VERDUGO FIRE DISPATCH CENTER - GLENDALE CALIFORNIA - 1999
Their website has detailed info on their radio system. The FCC database shows 3 or 4 repeater sites for each channel. Some are licensed to various communities. Is 46.10 still used for printer data or the 800Mhz channels? How many walkie talkies per vehicles - what are callsigns for HTs?
17 Oct 00 - Verdugo website has moved to www.vfcc.org - it now has a lsit of all their stations - it also says that online radio traffic will be added soon - there is also a list of radio freqs that looks up to date versus the 1999 info that I have below - I need to check those freqs for repeater sites (or simplex base sites)
-----------------------------------------------
7/4/99 - info from FCC website
859.2375R - 2/96 FCC - Glendale license - FB + FB2 on Mt Thom and at Water Tank at 3968 St Augustine St in Glendale - 70ERP - also 33 FX1s at 35ERP and ?60 mobiles at 35ERP 0n the input
46.10 - Glendale licenses plus 1 Pasadena license - Pasadena - 175 N Marengo - 1 FX at 25W - Glendale has multi locs with FBs and FX1s each - 1/96FCC - also Glendale has a license for 2 mtn top sites that will expire 7/19/99 - they are 300W FBs on Mt Thom and Mt Cerro Negro
5/98 FCC info - 470.1375 and 470.2625 and 482.2375 and 470.2125 and 482.3875 have FB2s licensed to Glendale at Mt Thom + Cerro Negro + Water Tank @ 3968 Saint Augustine St and Civic Center (Civic Center has FB2s and FX1s and FBs) - Burbank has these Verdugo freqs licensed to FB2s at Burbank PD at 272 E Olive Ave and 3900 W Alameda in Burbank and Rte 740 NE of Magnolia at Sunset and at ?1845 N Ontario in Burbank - Pasadena apparently has no repeaters licensed on the Verdugo freqs (I supect that all comms usually come off Mt Thom with the other repeaters being used as backups). (All Glendale LG and PD freqs on UHF are licensed for Mt Thom, Cerro Negro, Water Tank, ?and Civic Center repeaters)
More Questions - what does Glendale use 482.0875 and 470.3625 for? 470.3625 has 1 FB2 licensed at the Water Tank site. 482.0875 has 4 rptrs listed. (482.05 does have a FB2 at the Galleria Mall - ?used by PD when in that building)?

7/1/99 - adding 3 or 4 more cities - Sierra Madre etc. Verdugo is dispatching Monrovia E101 and Sqd 101 today. Monrovia radio traffic is still on Monrovia Red 154.37. Monrovia FG on 153.83 as usual. Verdugo Red 4 Dispatch is patched to the seldom used Monrovia Channel 6 (154.115 today). Arcadia ?is Sta 105 and 106 now. Sierra Madre is changing unit numbers. Arcadia and Sierra Madre were dispatched on Monrovia Red Channel.
7/1/99 info from Verdugo to HM - as of 7/1/99, Verdugo started to do Fire and EMS dispatching for Monrovia - on 8/1/99 they will start for Sierra Madre - on 9/1/99 they will start to do Fire and EMS dispatching for Arcadia.
Miscellaneous Other Info - July 1999 - Burbank FD now has funds to run a third paramedic unit - Glendale may be switching from AMR Ambulance to FD EMS.

July 14, 1999 - Update - I just got a good look at the Verdugo website and the computer screens - 800 Mhz MDTs in the rigs is the primary dispatch method - radio paging is the 2nd method - unsure how MDTs wake up firefighters at night -
The Main Dispatchers Screen shows - Red 1 thru 5 at Mt Thom + San Augustine + Burbank Reservoir + Burbank Tower - it also shows buttons for Red 4 Vote and Red 5 Vote at the same locations - a White box on the right shows Stae OES, and Ambulance, and Disaster, and Red 1 thru 5 Local, and Telephone Patch, and White, and Area C (Red 1 thru 5 Local is probably a simplex base at the dispatch center for disaster ops or training)
Paging Screen shows 1 button per fire station
Operators Screen - shows ?more paging buttons
Auxiliary Screen - shows receiver sites - R1 + R2 + R3 Vote = Mt Thom + San Augustine + Burbank Res + Burbank Tower + Civic Center + Pasadena - then - R4/2 Vote and R5/2 Vote shows Civic Center + Pasadena + Cerro Negro (maybe the slash 2 items are a seperate voter network for the East side or the West side) - alarms for the battery chargers at a couple of fire stations are also shown
Vesta 911 Telo Screen - slow to load - fuzzed out - 8 7 digit emerg telo numbers - 8 ringdowns - 8 business lines - 18 buttons top right for ?incoming ring down lines
Overall it looks like in 1997 that they had voted receivers on the Red inputs yet they had manual select for the transmitters with possibly steering transmitters an option on Red 4 and Red 5 (steered transmitters is when the voter automatically picks the best transmitter site based on the best receive site)
