July 2000 info from socalscan list

I've received this from the operations manager at South Bay Comms..."El Segundo PD, which was the first agency to actually go online with South Bay Regional Public Communications Authority in July, 1977, has left South Bay Communications and gone with Culver City until their new dispatch room is ready, which is supposed to be July 20. It was a decision totally made by their police chief. "As a matter of fact, Culver City and Torrance Police & Fire were original members of "South Bay," but both cities dropped out before the system went operational. The nine "founding" cities, police and fire, were : 1 - Hermosa Beach 2 - Manhattan Beach 3 - El Segundo (4 - Torrance) 5 - Hawthorne 6 - Redondo Beach 7 - Palos Verdes Estates (left South Bay within its first year) 8 - Gardena (9 - Culver City)

Sent: Sunday, July 02, 2000 10:48 Subject: [socalscan] Shared freq. Culver City-El Segundo - - - - -Very recently I have been hearing both Culver City PD and El Segundo PD use 482.2625 which is CCPD's freq. #1. Also now with a very annoying squeal. The same CTCSS (141.3) seems to be used by both agencys. Also it seems the same voices from Culver City (Control #1) are heard talking to and dispatching El Seguno units. These cities do not even have contiguous boundarys. Anyone have any information on this dual use?
