  • December 4, 1998: Lenoir City, TN - Another Bus Crash Victim Sues - A passenger injured in a bus crash on Interstate 40, is seeking damages.   Amanda Dockery and her family are suing for damages.  Amanda was on the tour bus carrying blount County High school students in March when it crashed near Lenoir City.  One teacher and one student were killed.  This is the sixth lawsuit filed against the driver, the tour bus company and the school system.   • December 3, 1998: Macon, GA - Students Injured in Bus Accident - Fourteen Bibb County Elementary school students got a scare when their school bus collided with a tractor-trailer in west Macon.  Some of the children suffered bumps and bruising in the crash.  Seven were taken by ambulance to the Medical Center of Central Georgia.  Others were taken to the hospital for examination by their parents. (PASS)
  • December 2, 1998: Carmel, NY - Bus Crash sends 15 People to the Hospital - Two buses were carrying children from a Connecticut field trip back to Starr Intermediate School.  One bus stopped short when the driver spotted a power line on the road.   The bus riding behind hit the rear of the stopped bus, injuring passengers on both vehicles.  Fifteen people were taken to the hospital, the others suffer from scrapes and bruising.(PASS)
  • November 28, 1998: Seattle - Bus Crashes Off Seattle Bridge.
  • November 27, 1998: La Plata, MD - Propane Truck hits School Bus - Charles County High School - Some students are very thankful to be alive after their school bus crashed head-on into a truck loaded with propane tanks.  Witnesses said the truck   came across the center line on Wheatley Road in Dentsville Wednesday and hit the bus, carrying 25 students.  Several students and bus driver were taken to a local hospital.  Minor injuries were treated, there were no reports of serious injury.   Charges are pending against the propane truck driver. (PASS)
  • November 25, 1998: Philadelphia, PA - Teen Dies After Bus Accident.
  • November 23, 1998: Butler, PA - Child strikes head against utility pole. Guidance counselors will be on hand today at an elementary school in Butler to help students cope with a bizarre accident many of them witnessed. School officials at Center Avenue Elementary say someone apparently called out a fifth-grader's name as his school bus was pulling away from the curb Friday. He opened the window, stuck his head out and was hit by a utility pole. The unidentified youngster was flown by helicopter to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he was admitted in critical condition. His parents have asked that his name not be released. (AOL News)
  • November 20, 1998: Hampton, GA - Students Injured in Bus Accident.
  • November 19, 1998: Yonkers, NY - 30 Students Hurt in Bus Accident.
  • November 19, 1998: Jefferson City, TN - One Killed in Bus Rollover, Driver Faces DUI.
  • November 19, 1998: Evansville WI - A school bus school bus accident in Evansville, WI has renewed debate on whether safety belts should be mandatory in school buses. The Rock county sheriff's office says seat belts would likely have protected the 13 children who were injured when the bus rolled over after being hit by a car. The national PTA and a number of health care organizations support using seat belts in buses... and the National highway Traffic Safety Administration is looking into the issue.
  • November 18, 1998: Haverford, PA - School Bus Accident in Suburbs.
  • November 18, 1998: Georgetown Delaware - Children Injured In School Bus Crash. Five children are recovering from bumps and bruises today after being injured in a school bus accident near Georgetown. State police say the five children were on board a bus yesterday when 17-year-old David Steele of Lewis pulled his pick-up truck onto the road and hit the bus. The students were all treated and released from Beebe Hospital.
  • November 17, 1998: Evansville, WI - School Bus Rolls Over in Wisconsin.
  • November 16, 1998: Shelbyville, TN - Church Bus Accident.
  • November 16, 1998: Portland, OR - (KOIN TV) An allegedly bumpy and dangerous ride may cost a school bus driver her job. It happened when a group of 4-th graders from Gillbert Park Elementory were being taken to and from swimming lessons at a nearby high school. Students say the driver ran over speed bumps too quickly and slammed the brakes at a stop sign. No major injuries have been reported but some did hit there heads, and are missing school. The driver has been temporarily suspended with pay, according to KOIN TV News, Portland, OR.
