Sleep Softly...

Every once in a while, I write a song that, to me, is magical. Words, music and harmonies flow almost complete from pen to paper, and from the time the last word is written I know that it is exactly what I wanted it to be and that I will only keep it to myself for a day or so out of respect, not because I feel I will be rewriting or rethinking or regretting. It almost feels as if the song were born from me rather than written by me - other songs come after days of thought and numerous rewrites but these, these magical songs are the reason I still believe in the greater forces at work in the universe. I can only hope that when I reveal what I feel is a magical song, that you and others will respect the concept and allow me my awe and reveration, even if you don't particularly like the song itself. :)

So yes, one of my magical songs. At 6:30pm I sat down in front of the computer with the intention of revising some of the chords I have finally got around to learning on guitar (yes, a real instrument at last!). By 9pm "Sleep Softly" was written and recorded, harmonies and all, and I have no second thoughts about revealing it to the world. If only I could be so sure about everything I do!
