In Your Own Company...

This song - the first for the Chaos website in fact - was born out of the strange insane delight I encountered when the world's oldest and dodgiest keyboard, which I learnt to play music on about 15 years ago, found new life thanks to the magical staff in the electrical store.

Basically, I wanted to see if the sound could be recorded into my own magical Cakewalk studio...and just how dinky it would sound: but I got carried away and made a lovely dinky little tune in the process. So here you have one very tinny-sounding song, which is about - what else - writing songs about whatever it is you want to write songs about. :)
(If I ever get my hands on a keyboard with MIDI, I might do this properly and fix up the timing and stuff - but I am kinda happy with this the way it sounds.)

Go on, life is short - write a dinky song now and again. It'll make you feel good!

I wait though it's dark and it's late now
I'm surprised there's nothing on
Guess I have time to write myself a song
for the feeling has just begun...

After so long in silence
Can you believe I can still hear
a sweet sound in the distance
that I think might be coming near

I won't turn down this chance to enjoy myself
like I might in the light of day
I'm alone, you're alone, and we both understand...
So who cares now what they say?

I'm wild in my own way I find
I just can't stop when I'm in the mood
I guess what I think is, don't try to stifle
all the good that you can do

So join with me now in my protest
Fight for the right to be
As stupid or brave or true as you can
In your own company

It's sad, sometimes
I speak and I find
It's insane, but true -
Some people care what I do!

So join with me now in my protest
Fight for the right to be
As stupid or brave or true as you can
In your own company
