Working in the IT industry

With the rapid change in the IT industry, new technologies developed, new jobs created and new skills needed, employers are always looking for staff who have specialised knowledge, but who are also able to function effectively because they have good ‘soft skills’. These skills include the way you behave, interact with others, solve problems and so on. In this unit you will learn some of the characteristics that employers look for in new employees and you will investigate a range of job roles that you might aim for when you have finished your studies.

You will be assessed through coursework which could be in the form of: • Presentations • Newsletters or leaflets • Videos • Witness statements and/or an evi- dence log • Web pages • Blogs
