In the many years that followed the Great War of the gods, the Accursed Island of Lodoss went through 3 different ages. The Age of Darkness, a period where Lodoss plunged into a dark age of choatic disorder. The Age of Sorcery, a period where Lodoss prospered in the arts of Magic. And finally, The Golden Age of Lodoss, a period where Lodoss resided in a time of peace and prosperity. The rise and fall of each Age had developed the land of Lodoss into what it is now. But not even the records of its history can foretell the future of Lodoss - The Accursed Island...

The world of Forceria had been ravaged by the might of the gods and it lay in ruins for thousands of years. Their power had caused mass destruction all over Forceria. The land of Lodoss, having been separated from the continent of Alecrast, was now an isolated island that had become a new continent itself. Although, like the rest of Forceria, the land of Lodoss was left in turmoil. The curse of the malevolent Kardis was taking its toll on the island. Many suffered in this choatic period and many monsters roamed across the land. For the many years that had still yet to follow, there was no kind of law & order that would keep Lodoss together until the Age of Sorcery.

The Age of Darkness had finally come to an end when a new age was born. This age was the Age of Sorcery. The Age of Sorcery began when a mighty and prosperous Kingdom called Kastuul, arose and united all of Lodoss under one rule. The Kingdom of Kastuul was well-known for its great achievements in the arts of Sorcery, and therefore became known as the Kingdom of Sorcery. Many great and powerful sorcerers lived during this era and their powers almost matched with those of the gods. For hundreds of years Kastuul, The Kingdom of Sorcery, reigned over the lands of Lodoss with an iron fist.

Although, like all other Kingdoms and Dynasties, Kastuul had come to an end. As the thirst for more and greater power corrupted the rulers of Kastuul, they began to war among themselves. Many wars waged on within Kastuul, and the once and mighty Kingdom of Sorcery had met the same fate of the gods. They grew too powerful for their own good and with it, they destroyed each other. Only destruction and chaos was achieved by these wars. Cities were destroyed by the advancing armies, natural disasters formed and ravaged the land as the wars waged on, and thousands died in the wake of all the destruction that had occurred. Much of the knowledge and achievements gained during the rule of Kastuul was all but destroyed. But before all was lost, five great magical relics of the Kingdom of Sorcery had been secured by the last rulers of Kastuul. This was done by giving each of the five Ancient Dragons the responsibility of guarding one treasure, thus securing its safety and preventing it from falling into the wrong hands.(see the 5 Ancient Dragons for more details on this)

As Kastuul, The Kingdom of Sorcery, met with its final hour, only one of the great sorcerers was able to survive the fall of Kastuul. This sorcerer was Karla, the infamous Grey Witch in the Record of Lodoss War OAV. She survived by transferring her mind and soul into magical circlet. With this circlet, she was able to gain immortality and surpass the limits of being flesh and blood. Any who of have misfortunately wore this circlet was controlled by Karla. Doing this, she has survived hundreds of years after the fall of Kastuul by traveling from body to body. Karla, the 5 Ancient Dragons, and the magical relics are the only existing remnants of the once and mighty Kastuul, The Kingdom of Sorcery.

After the fall of Kastuul, a second dark age loomed over the land of Lodoss for hundreds of years. But fortunately, another age of prosperity came as the people of Lodoss worked to recover from the calamities that happend in the past. The people of Lodoss had help from two of the Ancient Dragons. These two were Mycen, the Golden Dragon, and Bramd, the Ice Dragon. Both were Dragons of the Light and helped rebuild Lodoss. With Lodoss gradually recovering from its past calamity, it seemed that a Golden Age was finally coming. Many great achievements were being made in magic, science, and art. And slowly, lost knowledge from the Kingdom of Kastuul was being recovered. Peace reigned and people prospered. Although, with the peace and prosperity taking place, the land of Lodoss was still plagued with evil, corruption, choas, and war. All of which, would prove to cause more trouble and calamity in the future of Lodoss - The Accursed Island.
