I was asked to paint a fishing scene � that�s fishing as in angling. Although the customer could not afford the original painting, he offered to buy a print if I undertook to paint one. As landscapes tend to be quite saleable, I agreed to do it. At the same time I was invited on to the Nick Gurdler Show on BBC Radio, where they wanted me to paint at the same time as being interviewed. That�s how come much of this work was painted live on air. Just to be mischievous, I painted the customer in as the fisherman, so I guess it�s a portrait too. The customer was real pleased with it because he said it made him look slim?
