Things to Wrestle In

by Tracey (Box HF002)

No, no, I am not talking about jelly, mud or jam! Just clothing. "What a let down," I can hear you all saying. Anyway this article may still be of interest to you if you fun wrestle and are not sure what to wear. There are several different outfits that can be worn and I shall try to list the best ones. If anyone else has any suggestions just let me know via HEW.

Men

Well, what can one say? Unfortunately I am not that "up to date" with men's wear, so you'll have to excuse anything I get wrong.

Swimtrunks

These are fine to wear as long as they are comfortable and not too small. Costwise they are fairly inexpensive and of course you can also use them out of the ring. Plain ones are better because buttons and buckles can hurt.

Shorts

Again they are fine as long as they are comfortable. Elastic waist bands can sometimes cut in as can the leg holes if they are too tight. They can be worn with a loose fitting T-shirt if wanted. As for swimtrunks they are fairly inexpensive and have other uses.

Underwear

Full briefs or G-strings are both viable although its really a personal preference. these are the cheapest because you usually have underwear about. Any type are fine as long as they are comfortable.

Ladies

Swimsuit

This is probably the easiest and one of the cheapest items to wear. Not only it is comfortable and flexible, but you can also use it for everyday use, ie swimming! They can cost anything from about 15 upwards for a decent one but you don't want one with any fancy decorations on that might fall off or injure your opponent.

Bikini

Although sexy looking, these are not really very practical. The top can easily fly off if it gets too rough and halter necks can cut in if any pressure is put on. Costwise they can sometimes be expensive although as a swimsuit they can also be used out of the ring as well.

Leotard/aerobic outfit

These are very good to use if you have them as they are designed to go through similar workouts. Leggings are optional and down to personal preference and they can help against carpet burns. I am not sure how much they cost. Some sports shops cost a lot, but maybe catalogues are cheaper.

All in one bodyshapers

Again these are pretty good to use as the lycra in them keeps you in shape and helps stop you "bobbling" about too much. The only problem is that they are not as strong as the leotards. Costwise they are not too expensive depending on whether you have sleeves.

T-Shirt and shorts/miniskirts.

As with the mens shorts they need to be comfortable and not too tight. A loose fitting T-shirt goes well with shorts or you could wear a mini skirt of preferred over a leotard of body shaper. It is really down to personal preference. All can be bought fairly cheaply and can be used for everyday use.

Underwear

Bra and pants or a G-string are all viable, although make sure the bra fits well and is not likely to fly off. Cheapest because you should have them anyway.

Try to avoid sexy underwear because it really isn't designed for wrestling in. Suspender belts can really dig in on a head scissors. Also fish nets are better if you are going to wear tights because they let the skin breathe. Although no tights at all are probably better, its all down to personal preference.

Obviously there are other types of clothing you can wear, and really as long as you feel comfortable anything goes.

If you want to go the whole hog and buy professional wrestling outfits and boots make sure you go to a reputable retailer, and that it all fits well (especially the boots). Unless you are going to wrestle professionally or wear it frequently I really wouldn't suggest it, as it can be rather expensive and not very practical for anything else.

Of course what you wear in the end is up to you and your partner. If any of the above seems suited to you then fine. If not, you could always wrestle topless or maybe even completely nude!
