He was a prominent member of Emmaunuel Church, where he filled the offices of deacon, Sunday School superintendent and chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was secretary of the Montreal - Ottawa Conference. He was an active member of the Heather Curling Club and, in 1933, was president, and, at his death was Heather's representative to the Canadian Branch of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club. At times he was a vice-president and director of the Y.M.C.A., a director of the Boy's Home of Montreal, a member of the Boy's Farm and Training School at Shawbridge and the Daily Bible Schools.
