History of IAVA:
In 1981 during a
National Symposium on Developmental Biology at Department of Zoology,
University of Pune a historic decision to formulate a National Body of
Veterinary Anatomists was taken by the following Veterinary
Anatomists:
1. Dr. A. M. Shrivastava, Jabalpur ............. (Ad-hoc President)
2. Dr. R. V. Pandit, Nagpur ...................... (Ad-hoc Secretary)
3. Dr. Panchmukhi, Gujrat
4. Dr. Kalayan Singh Deora, Bikaner
5. Dr. Omar, Kerala
These five Veterinary
Anatomists formed the Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomists
(IAVA). Architecture of the constitution of IAVA was prepared by
Dr. R. V. Pandit, Nagpur and he also got this association registered
in 1983 at Nagpur.
First convention of IAVA
was held at Madras Veterinary College, TN in year 1983. Hisar
Veterinary College organized the convention of IAVA twice at a time
when the body was short of financial support and had scanty members.
Then staff at Hisar Veterinary College not only successfully organized
the conventions but also provided financial support and added more
members to the association.
Thus going through ups
and downs IAVA is a now a self sufficient body having its members
across the globe.
