My 1962 Impala Replica

.

.

A long time ago, I used to run the streets in a 1962 Chevrolet Impala. I really enjoyed the car, but I was stupid enough to sell it when someone put a pile of money on the hood that met what it would take to buy the car and then some.

Unfortunately, when I tried to purchase the car back the a few years later, the guy I sold the Impala to had sold it to someone that started to make a low rider out of it but never finished it. They sold it to someone else who had big plans to finish it as a lowrider, never finished it, and sold it to someone else. I gave up trying to find the car again after that even though I loved the car when I had it. I figured it was too far gone or had been scrapped by that point.

When Revell released their 1962 Impala Model Kit, I knew how to get my old car back once more and it would be in a way that I could afford. I plan on making it just like my old one as much as I can, right down to the baby moons on the front and slot mags on the rear. The Rally Wheel on the picture above was actually the spare, I ran Baby Moons the whole time I owned it. I am going to change where the bumper brackets got bent when it was towed by an old strap type tow truck a friend owned to my house because the clutch went out. It was always on my to do list to replace the brackets, but I never did.

So far the planning and parts gathering stages are as far as I have gotten on the project. I'll update everything when the project moves forward.

My thanks to Chuck M. for selling me the kit.
