Notes on Thomas Fayerchild: Thomas Fayerchild, merchant came from England and was among the first settlers of Stratford (now Bridgeport), Connecticut. His wife, Sarah, was the daughter of Robert Seabrooke. She had sisters who married Thomas Sherwood, William Preston of New Haven, and Lt Thomas Wheeler, of Milford, respectfully. All came to Connecticut about the same time in 1638 or 1639. After Sarah died he went back to England for another wife, Katherine Craig, probably a sister of a neighbor in Stratford, Connecticut. Before setting across the ocean she extracted from Thomas a contract binding him to convey her a life interest in his Connecticut lands, or in case of his death before her arrival in New England, the sum of 200 pounds. (pre-nuptial agreement December 22, 1662).
