HENRY ARTHUR TROWBRIDGE
The following article appeared in the Times Trenton newspaper that may have been Henry Arthur Trowbridge, the son of Henry Augustus Trowbridge, since he was the same age and lived in the area when this incident occurred. If it is Henry Arthur, then he may have been prone to violent behavior, which could explain his early death at the age of 17. The following article was transcribed by Angie Dethloff as is:
THE TIMES TRENTON, SEPT. 14, 1883
ONE LAD STABS ANOTHER
"Elizabeth Sept. 13: Henry Trowbridge and Elias Applegate, aged 13 and 14 years, engaged in a fight at a political outdoor meeting last night. Trowbridge drew a knife and plunged the blade into Applegate's chest, cutting a deep wound through the ribs. Applegate fell and was taken to his home in an ambulance. Trowbridge says he used the weapon in defense and that Applegate and others attacked him."
