Send Files
If you would like to send a file to someone explain what the file is first so they can decide if they want to accept it or not. Do not send files to just anybody online. At one time the size of the files you could send was unlimited but now it is limited to 10 MB.
Highlight a friend's nickname from your PalList or in a group (when they are online) > right-click and choose "File Transfer" and a box will pop up > select a file on your system > "Send" button > a transfer dialog box opens > press "Send File".
V7.0 Files cannot be sent between users on build 553 and 7.0 BETA. These two versons are incompatible.
Recieve Files
Accept files at your own risk. You can get viruses and trojans on your computer by agreeing to accept files on PalTalk! NEVER accept a file transfer from someone you do not know. If you want to accept a file, especially if you cannot recieve a file on PalTalk for whatever reason, ask them to send it to your email address. PalTalk itself doesn't scans files so before you open the file scan it first with a built-in email scanner and any number of programs you can get here:

To play games on PalTalk check the "Computers - Hi Tech" category for gaming rooms and read below for information on trivia games. At one time PalTalk had a Games menu built into it but it didn't work. I guess the programmers decided against it.
How To Play
You can find Trivia Groups mainly in the "Meet New Friends" category and sometimes in the "Music" category. When you first enter a trivia group you will have to adjust your text formatting to suit the team you choose to play for. Read the banner or ask the admin how they seperate the groups. As all the groups are co-ed the teams usually are the women versus the men. Here's how the teams might be divided in text:
- men type in capital letters and women in lower case
- colours of text (Men: black, green and blue Women: orange, pink and red)
- by the first letter of all the nicknames (Team 1: A/M Team 2: N/Z)
It's a myth all capitalized or underlined text lag the room. Some rooms ask you do not use this type of text formatting because they draw the reader's eye to them so the correct answers are sometimes missed.

Never PM any of the readers or scorers during the game
Numbers ten and under typed out in letters not numbers. (one, two, three etc...)
Surnames (last names) suffice unless the reader asks for both.
Read Quizzes
"Down the line" or "round robin" refers to quizzes where anyone in the group can read questions in order of the hands raised in the Group List.
The bot-based trivia groups (rooms that don't have voice activated) on PalTalk use the Trivia Bot. Voice-activated trivia groups use this program when readers and scorers are scarce.

Rules:
The rules are very simple. The nickname must be longer than or equal to the names listed here. Spaces and underscores count as one character. The @ sign does not count. You must see the nickname in a Group List. You cannot use the PalTalk White Pages to find the longest nickname. This contest does not constitute an endorsement by PalTalk.
Submissions:
To submit a nickname to this list it's easiest just to add the user while they are in the group. Then all you have to do is view their profile and copy the nickname from there.
