View Cams PalTalk has thousands of live video chat rooms. If you don't have a web cam you can still view cams running on PalTalk.
If you don't pay for PalTalk web cams won't refresh automatically in the chat groups, with the expection of any blue room. If you have a black nickname ask a user to run their cam in a PM with you. This way their cam will stream for you almost as fast as it does for blue nicknames.
If you don't want to view a cam in a PM, black nicknames can refresh cams manually for a series of still pics of the user's cam.
To manually refresh a cam right-click on a nickname in a group or from your PalList > "View Video" > click the red X to close the video window > repeat in rapid succession > click "Hide Video" when you are done.

Cam Demonstration If you have a black nickname go to the cam demonstration and view high speed video for free. See what non-subscribers are missing.
To go to this group click on the "groups" button (on the PalList) > select the "Special Feature Rooms" category > double-click on "Welcome - PalTalk FREE Multiview Demo Lobby".

Cam Setup To set up your cam go your PalList > Press "File" > scroll down to "Video Setup Options" > select your cam > click the "Video Format" button > set the Resolution to 160 x 120 > set the Pixel Depth (color) to 16 bit RGB or 24 bit RGB > OK > Apply.

Publish Cam G-rated cams are welcome in most of the G-rated rooms but it's best to ask first if no other cams are running. Shut off your cam before you talk on the mic or your sound will break up. Camera colours can be offset if your camera is aimed at an area with insufficient light, directed into the light or if it points to an area with excessive light.
V7.0 You can publish your cam in one group at a time. To switch your cam to another group stop publishing it in one group and start it in another.
If you don't have a real camera you can use SoftCam to stream your own creative visual effects. Personally I don't like SoftCam but I have included it here if you want to try it as some PalTalk users swear by it. It's a really good idea to forget about installing programs that aren't absolutely necessary

Fix Cam If your cam is not working the first thing you should try is unplugging it and securely plugging it back in. Then see if it will work. If that doesn't work go to the manufacturer's web site and download the drivers that are specifically for your web cam.

Unwanted Cam Sessions If you have an open contact list sometimes a stranger will start a video session with you in PM without asking you first. Some users just won't take no for an answer. This can start up your cam in the PM and they will see you until you realize what is happening and switch it off. Never be caught off-guard!! When it's not in use point your cam at a blank wall and NOT at yourself.
