Groups List You'll use the Group List to go from room to room. From this list you can see if the groups are voice activated or not, toggle parental controls on and off, view how many people are in the group and get the group rating.
I hope that the PalTalk programmers will make a fully customizable Groups List like the PalList. That way we could add, delete and block categories and individual groups as we see fit. This change would bring about greater parental controls than the filter alone can offer.

Types Of Groups Here are some of the types of groups you'll find on PalTalk:
Voice Groups have the mic enabled. Some of these groups are mic required.
Premium Groups (rooms with a blue name) will always be in the Groups List with or without admin in the room. The premium room owner pays for that priviledge.
Private Groups do not show up in the Groups List. They are by invitation only.

Welcome To PalTalk Groups

Group Ratings Each group has an G, R or A rating. Here are PalTalk's guidelines for each rating:
G-rated groups welcome a general audience. Children under 13 may be in attendance (with parental supervision) so don't swear or use offensive language in these family-orientated groups.
R-rated and A-rated groups are for adults only because of their adult and mature content. A-rated groups have sexually explicit language and some of them have explicit cams. The admin in A and R groups check the profiles all of the users entering the group. If your age range is not displayed in your Pal Info you will be bounced with or without warning.

Join Groups PalTalk has many groups that present fun, interesting and insightful topics.
To join a group open your PalList > click the "groups" button (top right) > browse the Categories List and double-click on one > double-click on a room name or highlight it and click "join" (bottom left).
To switch categories and look for another group bring up the Groups List > click on the box marked "catg" (bottom right) and you are back to the Categories List.
V7.0 You can be in 3 Voice Groups all at the same time. You can join more after the limit of 3 but only if those groups do not have the mic activated. If you have a blue nickname you can make all the rooms smaller. By resizing the groups you can see up to 4 rooms on a 17 inch monitor all at once. If you have a black nickname you are limited to reducing chat windows until they reach the width of the banner at the bottom.

Room Info Read the banner and the welcome message for the group's URL, room rules and other important bits of information. At the top of any group (underneath the program menus) is the banner. You might have to use the up and down arrows on the right side to read the whole banner. Depends on how much information the admin typed in there. The "Welcome Msg:" is the very first piece of text in the chat area when you first enter the group.

Admin When in a group follow the room rules explicitly. Moderators are indicated by the @ sign at the start of their blue or black nicknames and they will look something like this @Alberta226 or this @Alberta226 in the Group List. Admin are there to enforce the rules and answer questions.

Favorites List When you find a group you like add it to your Favorites List so that you can enter the group when it's open without having to search the Groups List.
To add a room to your Favorites List go to the "Favorites" menu at the top of the group > click "Add to Favorites".
You will probably lose this list when you re-install PalTalk. It would be great if the Favorites List was integrated into the Groups List so we could permanently mark our favorite groups right there among the rest of the groups.

Recieving Invites When you are invited to a group an invite box will come up. If you accept it you will be transferred to that group automatically. If it's a Private Group you will have provide a username (room owner) and password before entering. To decline press No on the invite box or leave it there and it will go away on it's own in a few minutes.

Send Invites The only way a user can join a Private Group is if they recieve an invitation from someone already in the room. You don't have to be an admin to pull users in a room.
To send an invitation press the "Invite" button (at the bottom of any room) > scan the list and highlight the nicknames you want to invite > Invite.
Users that are in Away Mode do not recieve invitations. It is rumored there is a program where room owners can take users out of rooms and transfer them to their groups but I don't think it exists.

Ignore Users Use the ignore feature on someone in a group and you won't see anything they type into the room or hear them on the mic any longer.
To ignore someone in a group right-click on their nickname in the Group List > click on "Ignore In Group" to check it.

You're Ghosting If you see a nickname doubled in the Group List it means that the user is ghosting to you. When this happens exit and re-enter the room and the list will be refreshed.

You're Red Dotted When you enter certain rooms you will notice you are red dotted upon entering. Perhaps it's a listening only room (where only the admin take the mic) or maybe the admin check user profiles before lifting the red dot. At times it can be done by mistake. If you know that someone has been red dotted in error feel free to say something in the chat area or PM one of the room admin.

You're Bounced If you get bounced from a group take heart. You are not kicked out for good. You will be able to return to the room immediately if it was an accident or in 24 hours if you want another chance.

You're Banned Most room owners are not unreasonable people. If a user has been banned from a group usually it's for a very good reason. Don't badger & nag the room owners and admin to un-ban someone. Nagging only promotes ill feeling and discomfort on all sides when the answer is invariably no. If the group owners feel that someone should have their ban lifted then they will do so in their own time.
Copy and paste the nickname of a user you want banned into a PM to the room owner, along with your reasons, and they will take it into consideration.
