March 13, 2004: Recollection @ Stella-Maris House of Prayers...

In preparation for the coming Holy Week celebration the acolytes of St. Rosario parish (KOA-ROYAL) together with their respected parents (ALPHA) had a Recollection which was held at the House of Prayers in Guadalupe: Stella Maris -  same venue as last year and the other previous year. It's been our third consecutive time of having our Recollection at the said venue. No regrets and "walay pu-ol" because the said venue is really  conducive for such solemn purposes like recollections and retreats.

The acolytes (KOA-ROYAL) were being handled by three brothers from the Oblate Apostles of the Two Hearts which was headed by Bro. Nicholas Ma. Caluanan. Due to time constraints they prepared a three session topics for us. First was the welcoming in the recollection: the contributions and expectations from us. Second was the topic entitled. "The purpose of the Knights of the Altar (KOA)". But before the topic was formally discussed, we have had a sort of a Spiritual Aerobics, as the brothers cal it. Christian action songs were being introduced unto us. The songs really awaken our mornings and stretched our bones and muscles: "Nawala gud ang among duka!". After that we had our 30 minute break wherein we got a chance to taste our ever tempting snacks (hehehe). Last topic was the cream-of-the-crop of them all as I may quote it. The topic was prayers... much was being discussed... and much have been learned. But what made it so great was that on the last part, we are being asked to pray and meditate on our lives. Solemn and instrumental music added its background which made it even more solemn. The rest was history for most of us, we all end up seeking reconciliation, peace and thanksgiving from everyone, from our fellow acolytes then to our respective parents. "Medyo drama sya" to others but for most of us, it was peace and satisfaction from the heart from us.

For our parents (ALPHA), Rev. Fr. Arnie Visitacion, our ever loving and supportive Spiritual Director handled them.

Before we get to eat our lunch we gathered at the main chapel for a short prayer and Angelus. After that... since it was already past 12 noon... Nothing much happened here... It was only eating and eating and eating that transpired within.... hehehe...

Busog na ni sila...? mura man gud og gigutom sa ilang mga posing bisan og humana og kaon... (jk!jk!jk!) Human og kaon nibalik na mi sa tagsa2x namo ka pwesto... We continued our recollection but this time with Fr. rnie on us while the brothers are at our parents. Change of facilitator that is. We read passages from the bible which provided us a greater and a spiritual background which will aide us in the next activity - Election of Officer for 2004. With the Lord God guiding us, we were able to come up with a new set of officers, Pat Mayol - President; Mark "Koko" Go - Vice-president; Jhunell Alcala - Secretary; Julius Clitar - Treasurer; Jude Sonsona - Auditor; Dennis Cabaguing and Ronald Archival - Sgt. at Armsd. Congrats and more power to the new set of officer and to the KOA-ROYAL family. God bless us all!

To culminate our recollection, we had a Penitential Rite Ceremony for our Confession but since we were quite many Fr. Arnie decide to perform a general absolution for us all. Then after the ceremony followed the holy mass celebration presided by no other than.. our Spiritual Director: Fr. Arnie Visitacion.

Pray-Over. For our fellow acolytes who are to graduate this March 2004 and also for our new set of officers. Everyone receive blessings from everyone.

It has been a great and fruitful recollection experience for us all.
