In 1981 the classic Martini racing livery was adopted for the entire season for the Lancia Corse cars. A twin turbocharger was introduced giving 450 bhp. Wins at the Nurburgring and the 6-hours of Watkins Glen brought the Montecarlo its second World Championship. There were further privateer entries in the WCM and DRM for Hans Heyer using 1979 chassis. 1982 was the final year of racing for the Gr. 5 Montecarlo. Lancia Corse had moved to the new Group C prototype class with the LC10 but had sold the remaining Montecarlos to private teams. Hence, privateer entries were made at Le Mans by Team Vesuvio who finished 12th place overall. Another car competed in the Divison 1 category of the DRM. Finally, the Group 5 silhouette era came to an end at the close of the 1982 season in favour of Group C.
