The Meaning of a Copyright:
A copyright (in this case) is a legal statement made by the creator of a website stating that material (graphics, text, html codes, etc.) on the website should not be stolen or copied.
Consequences of Stealing/Copying:
If everyone copied each others sites and graphics, the internet would be a very boring place. Many sites would look just like others, and have the same text as others. Also, many website owners will take you to court if you steal or copy material from their site.
The Point of a Copyright:
The point of having a copyright is not to be evil or controlling, but to encourage others to make their own original sites and graphics. Originality is what makes the internet a fun & enjoyable place. If copyrights were never made, most sites would be too much alike.
How to Make a Site on Your Own:
There are many ways for you to make a cool site, even if you are inexperienced with making websites, graphics, & HTML codes. A good place to go for HTML help is Lissa Explains it All. For a trial of a good graphics program, go to Jasc.com and download Pain Shop Pro 7. If you prefer to not use HTML or make your own graphics, then you should try building a site at Homestead.com, where you can build an entire site using their drag 'n' drop method.
SB's Copyright Policy: Here at Silver Butterfly, we believe in originality, and have a copyright of our own. You may take **nothing** from my site unless you get my permission first by e-mail. If I find a site that has copied anything from SB, I will ask them to put up a link banner to SB, or to take the copied material off of their website. If they refuse to do either of the options listed, I will never return to their website, and will tell others not to visit their site.
