In 1995, No Doubt headlined on the Warped Tour. October 1995 Tragic Kingdom was finally released. They toured with 311 at the beginning of it but were soon on their own. The band debuted on Billboard's Top 200 at #175. The single "Just a Girl" reached #10 and soon after "Spiderwebs" reached #5. They began touring in Europe and Tragic Kingdom went platinum and was double Platinum by August of the next year. "Don't Speak" eventually reached #1 on the charts, a spot it held for a record smashing four months!!!
The media bought into the band but seemed to have only fallen for the blonde leading gal. Gwen was brought center stage and Tom, Tony, and Adrian were pushed off to the side as her backups. This misrepresentation was best demonstrated by the issue of Spin magazine in which they were all guaranteed to be on the cover but when it was released, it showed Gwen alone. This brought anger within the band since they had all worked hard to get where they were, yet the guys were given the shaft. Their incredible and sudden popularity added stress between the members. This can all be seen in the "Don't Speak" video. Although they over dramatized it in the video, the band didn't break up.
In 1997, No Doubt began their third headlining tour. They also celebrated their tenth anniversary of the band's existance on New Year's Eve by all appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone.
Through out 1998 and 1999, No Doubt took a break from touring and did some heavy-duty writing and recording for their fourth album. Lots of people said they could not follow up with an album as astonishing as Tragic Kingdom and in April of 2000, Return of Saturn was released and many thought the critics might be right.
No Doubt was hardly done, though, as they came out with their fifth album in December 2001, Rock Steady. Immediatly their first single, "Hey Baby" became a staple on radio stations across the country as well as MTV and VH1 springing them into the pop world. The new album marks a departure from No Doubt's signature style and creative process, making this a mix of classic new wave sounds, hard-driving hip-hop beats and slinky Jamaican dance-hall that has been a huge hit with over four songs from the album played on the radio. Although Gwen hopes to have a child some time in the near future; the band is far from done.
Gwen and long time boyfriend Gavin Rossdale recently got married and Gwen is enjoying married life very much. Adrian married a couple of years back and already gave birth to his first child. Currently, Tony is the only single member of No Doubt. In 1994, two aditions were made, Gabe McNair on trumpet and Stephen Bradley on keyboard and trombone who occasionally play in some songs.
