The Story of The Mysterious Lens, or, How to list an item on ebay you know almost nothing about

Never satisfied to list an item without knowing even the slightest details about its creator, we sent our brave explorers into the deep nether regions of Japan to piece together this little lens's history. After an exhausting search and a bad case of dysentery, they returned with the chilling tale of one man's quest to bring photographic perfection to the new world. (please note: the following was assembled using mostly hearsay, speculative conjecture and failed attempts to translate japanese)

The gates are all that remains of the mysterious lens factory

Our story begins deep in the Futomaki province of central Japan. Here, unknown to the rest of the world, a small lens factory was established for the sole purpose of creating the greatest lens the world would ever see. It was prophesied that the lens would fit Konica cameras, which were greatly valued by the people of Futomaki. There were many attempts at creating such a lens but it is unknown if they succeeded, all evidence of the factory was destroyed during the great Bento war. Despite the massive casualties suffered at the small factory, it is believed one worker escaped with the only lens not destroyed by the catapults and flying dragons.

The boat sets out for the New World

The worker wandered the vast desert wastelands of Japan for many years before reaching the Great Sea. It is said he boarded a boat destined for the new world but died of cholera before he ever saw the shores of the strange new land. Before his death, he bestowed the lens to a young boy with the hopes that the lens would be taken to far side of the New World and hidden away until the gods could be summoned to take the lens back to Futomaki. There it could be used to rebuild the factory and restore the province to its former glory. After arriving, the boy developed a fatal goiter and was taken in by a man who believed the lens was the fabled Great Lens of Futomaki and could be sold for millions on the black market. The man mysteriously died eight days later and the lens was sent to his father on the far side on the land.

The last known picture of the brave worker and the fabled lens

Fearing that this was actually the Great Lens and carrying a terrible curse, the father hid the lens away deep in the bowels of a photographic warehouse. Soon after, the father died mysteriously and all traces of the lens had been lost. A recent exploration into an abandoned warehouse in the long forgotten realm of downtown New York City uncovered a lens matching the description of the one taken out of Futomaki by the last worker. After decades of lying dormant the lens no longer appears to be cursed and was foud to be in excellent condition and functioning perfectly. It has been taken to the knowledgable sages at Alkit Pro Camera for evalution and the ultimate decision as to the future of the lens. The mysterious lens is now being offered to any Konica owner brave enough to bring the legend to its triumphant ending and restore glory to the Futomaki province and its people.
