Want to send a package, or pick one up? Read this first!

The Student Mailroom and Copy Center
"The Mailroom" is where all students have their mailbox. This is where you will receive your personal mail from home along with flyers and handouts from the university. You will receive your mailbox number and combination when you register for class. Once you receive your mailbox, this will be your mailbox to use for your stay in Grenada. The Mailroom and Copy Center are operated by significant others. Access to your mailbox is available at all hours of the day and night.

Services offered by the mailroom include: selling postage and envelopes, selling school supplies, Fed Ex and other express mailing systems, and courier service.

Postage and Postage Rates
The cost to send mail from Grenada varies due to it's final destination. The prices vary between $1.00 - $1.60 EC per half ounce.
It costs $1.00 EC per half ounce to send a letter to the United States, $1.25 EC per half ounce to the United Kingdom, and certain parts of Europe are $1.60 EC per half ounce.

The mail usually takes two weeks to get to Grenada. Outgoing mail from Grenada usually takes around two weeks to reach it's final destination as well. It is not uncommon for packages and letters coming to Grenada to take longer. Be sure to address your letter and packages correctly.

Receiving Packages
Packages usually take about two weeks to get to Grenada. Once your package arrives, it will be held at the main post office in downtown St. George's. The package is held there to be assessed for customs. The main post office will send a notice to your school mailbox letting you know you package has arrived on the island. The package then needs to be picked up from the main post office. If you don't have a car, take a reggae bus ($1.50EC each way) and just let the driver know you need to get off at the post office. When you pick up your package, the value will be assessed for customs. They will not go through your package without you (or the courier) present. The mailroom offers a courier service to pick up packages from the main post office (rates for this vary). Once you receive notice that you have a package, you can just let the mailroom know if you would like the courier to retrieve your package.

Courier service
The mailroom offers a courier service. For a fee, our courier will pick up packages for our students. He will go anywhere on the island to pick up packages. He will go to the main post office and different cargo services as well. Prices vary on the service and location he has to travel to retrieve your packages.

Cargo services
If you plan to cargo things to Grenada, there are a couple of companies you can use. These companies are Ameijet, American Airlines and UPS. Amerijet is the more commonly used. The Amerijet office is close to campus and the courier goes there often. It is also the most reasonably priced. For more information please contact Amerijet. They have offices all over the world. American Airlines cargo service is seldom used by the students. The rules and regulations change a lot due to certain embargos. Please contact American Airlines for more information. UPS is not recommended. When a package is sent UPS, it arrives in Grenada and then transferred to a storage facility. The storage facility is on the northern part of the island. Due to the location of the storage facility, the courier service can get costly.

Other services
The Mailroom also offers other services to our students. We make photo copies and sell snacks and drinks. We also have our " Test Bank." This is a huge collection of old tests and notes for all terms. Everything from our Test Bank is copied and sold to order. We also have a large selection of St. George's University clothing and souvenirs.
