GAP Tuesdays/Thursdays

It is a good time for parents to get together as well as enrich the social skills of the kids. During this time, parents volunteer to take turns providing snacks, doing a craft, or leading circle time. Kids of all ages participate.

GAP Drop Off Day

Everyone should take advantage of the convenience! Drop-Off Days will be announced once we find a convenient time for everyone. You can drop your kids off at the GAP house and enjoy a little time to yourself. Go grocery shopping, lay out on the beach, or enjoy some quiet time at home. The cost is only $5 EC per child, $10EC per family.

Babysitting Cooperative

The babysitting co-op provides an opportunity for parents to exchange babysitting without exchanging cash. It is based on the exchange of points that can be earned and redeemed with any member of the co-op.

Lunch Bunch

This is a potluck lunch for all of the SO Parents and their children. One of the parents hosts this lunch once a month. Potluck themes that we have done in the past include pizza, taco salad, bbq, salad bar, and tacos. Check your email for sign-ups. The kids and the SO parents have a blast in this informal setting!

Swim Fridays

Each Friday we all meet to go swimming! The Grenadian Grand Beach Resort has generously agreed to allow members of GAP to us their pool Friday mornings from 10-12. Because this is such a great privilege, we ask that you do not take advantage of this offer. We also ask that your children understand the rules of no climbing on the rocks, bridges, and waterfalls. Pool day at the Grand Beach is a fun time for everyone and we would like to keep it that way. Please check in at the desk as you walk towards the pool.

GAP's Advanced Playgroup

AP is a preschool open to children ages 3-5 years old. It is held 3 days a week on Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 8am-12pm. Its focus is to provide a more structured environment than the GAP playgroup. The day consists of morning meetings, singing, movement, small and gross motor activities, games, arts and crafts, outside play and free play. There is a small fee due each month and parents are asked to help provide snack. Kids must be potty trained. Anyone interested should contact Midori at 444-4899.

Music Makers

This fun music program gives your children an opportunity to be exposed to music and participate in a parent and me program. The children sing, do finger plays, march in a band, dance, and have story time.

Kid less Lunch

This is the SO parent's chance to get away from it all. The parents go out to lunch at a local restaurant while their kids eat pizza at the GAP House. It is a chance to be able to eat all of your own food without having to referee the kids! The cost for babysitting is $5EC per child, $10EC per family.

Movie Night Phone Tree

This allows parents to find out what movie is playing at the SGU campus on Fridays. Generally it is not known until that day and makes it difficult to send out an e-mail so the phone tree can let you know if it is a movie you would be interested in taking your child or if a movie has been cancelled.

Holidays

As a group, we celebrate a couple of the holidays that occur while we are in Grenada. For Halloween, the children dress up in their costumes and go trick-or-treating on True Blue campus. The professors and various offices participate in this activity. For Easter, an Easter Egg Hunt is held for the children. These activities have proved to be a great deal of fun for the kids!!

Fieldtrips

Once a month we will meet together and go on a fieldtrip. These fieldtrips are set up to allow us to see part of the island. They may include beach trips, gardens, petting farms etc. We are open to ideas for new places to visit.
