Avalon Rising


They say Celtic Fusion, I say GREAT BAND!

I don't know how long I've been listening to Kristoph Klover perform, but he's one of the best guitar players in filkdom. Avalon Rising is one of the bands in which he performs. The other is Four Shilling Short. He's also one of the most versatile instrumentalists in filkdom (second only, I think, to Joe Bethancourt) regarding how many instruments he plays. Thing is, he plays them all well.

He and his wife, the extremely talented Margaret Davis, formed Avalon Rising in 1993 with several other people, including someone who plays a truly mean bodhran. While you hear how great a job she does on the group's first album, aptly titled Avalon Rising, the one time I saw her perform live (at LACon III), she really outdid herself.
