The day after the battle royal, we find Brock and Rena unpacking some boxes inside their new (second) home in Saratoga Springs.

RENA LESNAR: Look at this!

It's an autographed,  framed photo of Brock standing in the center of the ring after winning his first world heavyweight title at Summerslam... twenty years ago.

He's not even paying attention to what she's showing him.

RENA LESNAR: Honey?

Still nothing. It finally takes her walking over and putting her hand on his shoulder.

BROCK LESNAR: Sorry.

RENA LESNAR: The flashback again?

BROCK LESNAR: Yep. Cody Rhodes will pay the ultimate price for costing me a shot at MY world title. This company isn't about to be ran by the damn Rhodes family.  Not if I have anything to say about it.

He's got both of his fists clinched in balls, like he is ready to rip someone's head off. Fortunately, she is there to ease some of the tension.

RENA LESNAR:  Save that energy for the number one contender match. If you want your day to come, you need to take care of that business first.

Slowly his hands begin to open up as he takes in a few deep breaths. She grabs both of his hands with her own and looks up at her husband.

RENA LESNAR: You're built for this.

She shows him the framed photo and he smiles from ear to ear.

BROCK LESNAR: I am pretty good at this, aren't I?

Her efforts to turn his mood around were successful, this time.

We fade out.

Back in Canada, Brock is spending the weekend at his other home while Rena and the kids are still in the US.

We find him outside, chopping firewood in sub zero temperatures. Wind chill around -20.

We fade out as he continues to punish the firewood for even looking at him.

......Later that evening.

We hear a phone ringing.

Again.

Again.

???: Hello?

We see now that it's a zoom call between Brock Lesnar and Matt Striker, initiated by Brock.

BROCK LESNAR: Matt, we've got a problem.

Matt takes off his pink eye mask and rubs his eyes, trying to wake up from the deep sleep he was in.

MATT STRIKER: Brock...... what time is it?

BROCK LESNAR: Who cares what time it is. We've got a serious problem here.

Knowing that he's got no business being awake, Matt looks over at his alarm clock.

'1:08 AM'

MATT STRIKER: What's going on, man? It's one o'clock in the morning.

BROCK LESNAR: Mick Foley better just fire me now.

This catches Matt off guard a bit.

MATT STRIKER: Excuse me?

BROCK LESNAR: You heard what I said.

MATT STRIKER: Why would you want him to do something like that?

BROCK LESNAR: Because if he doesn't, I'm going to kill an elderly man! I could go to jail! This company could go under! Lawsuits! Do you not understand the possible ramifications of this one match?

He realizes he's poking some at the hall of famer. And wasting his time in the middle of the night.

MATT STRIKER: To be fair.... Kevin Nash isn't THAT old.

BROCK LESNAR: I just don't feel good about this. Ever since the battle royal, I keep getting these visions in my head.... Visions of me destroying everything that moves in front of me. Inside the ring. Outside the ring. Backstage. The parking lot. Everywhere. Going to suplex city..... time and time again.

Matt has by now made his way into his kitchen and is getting something to drink out of the fridge.

BROCK LESNAR: I've had them before and that's what scares me the most. Anytime I've started to have these visions, bad things have happened to my opponents. Even if it's not Kevin Nash, think about the things I can do to Malaki Black. I'm bigger, stronger and better than him in every way. Both of these guys could walk out of this match with serious long term health problems. I just don't know I'm quite ready to accept that responsibility. Do you understand what I'm saying, Matt? Please tell me you understand what I'm saying.

It's a lot to take in, especially for someone that is a little peeved for being woken up in the middle of the night.

MATT STRIKER: You're one of the biggest superstars in the business. All of a sudden you don't want to be number one contender and have a shot at the world title? What's gotten into you?

BROCK LESNAR: What if this is all some sort of sign from god?

Matt has had enough.

MATT STRIKER: I'm going back to bed....

BROCK LESNAR: What if he's telling me I should go moose hunting instead?

MATT STRIKER: Goodbye.

Matt hangs up from the video call as we see what clearly appears to be a slight grin on the face of Brock. He runs his hand through his ponytail as he hangs up his phone too.

Fade out.

Here we are.

It all came so fast.

The first ever PPV for WLCW.

We cut backstage just before the show starts and find Josh Matthews.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to be joined at this time by one of the three men that will compete tonight to determine the number one contender for the world title.... BROCK LESNAR!!

'The Beast' emerges from the left side of the screen. He sporting his usual black wrestling trunks with black gloves.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Big night tonight. Anything you want to get off your chest?

BROCK LESNAR: You know what, Josh? I do have a couple of things I'd like to address, thanks for asking. As far as Kevin Nash..... COME ON! Are you serious? Kevin Nash!? He has got to be pushing what.. sixty, seventy years old!? I'm afraid one suplex and he will have a broken hip.. or two! Do we have medical equipment readily available?? How many EMTs are on site?

He looks honestly concerned for the well being of Kevin Nash.

BROCK LESNAR: These are important questions, Josh.

JOSH MATTHEWS: I'm afraid I can't answer those questions.

Shaking his head, Brock places one hand on Josh's shoulder.

BROCK LESNAR: Thanks, buddy. That makes me feel so much better.

JOSH MATTHEWS: I do know we've also got Malakai Black, the third participant in your match.

Come on now, don't poke the bear.

BROCK LESNAR: Don't get me started with that character.... whatever IT is.

He smirks. It's hard for him to take someone like that seriously.

BROCK LESNAR: I mean, I'm all for originality and being your own person. But, somewhere along the lines I think this guy got confused. The makeup, the contacts, way too many tattoos... At this point, I really would not be surprised if he started wearing lipstick. Is that bad? I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Like him or not, he had a great showing in the battle royal.

BROCK LESNAR: I can't argue with that. He wants to kick Cody's ass just as much as  I do... I respect that, but there's clearly a big difference between someone like him and someone like me.

It doesn't take him telling us that. The evidence is in Brock's intimidating stature.

BROCK LESNAR: There are Alpha males, like myself...... and then there is whatever Malaki Black is. It's not his fault, it's just the way it is.

He looks down at his body and then back up at the camera, shrugging his shoulders.

BROCK LESNAR: It's okay though, I can't be held accountable for what happens tonight. I'll take comfort in knowing that I warned multiple individuals what might happen if this match actually took place. There will be no blood on my hands. None of this will be my fault. They will only have themselves to blame.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Who is they, if you don't mind me asking?

Brock puts Josh in a headlock, synching it in pretty hard. You can see the satisfaction in his eyes as he releases the grip around Josh's neck and points over towards something..

BROCK LESNAR: Now, go on... why don't you go stand over there by that handicap elevator.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Are you serious?

BROCK LESNAR: Yes, I'm serious. It's only a matter of time before Kevin Nash comes wheeling out of that thing.

Josh realizes where he is going with this.

BROCK LESNAR: You might be the last person to EVER interview Kevin Nash. Think about that, Josh.

Brock walks out of the shot with his chest puffed out, ready to go.

Fade out.

Let's not sugar coat it.... Brock was screwed. So too was Malaki Black and Kevin Nash, but that is beside the point. Neither of them have the 'it' factor to be able to carry this company. An opportunity was taken away from Brock, but another was given to him in the number contender match. It's up to Brock to ensure his rightful destiny.
