This season, the entire country is inbounds! If you thought you were addicted to NFL 2K last season, wait 'til you get your hands on this incarnation! Fully online (SegaNet) supported and boasting some improvements and additions, NFL 2K1 is sure to top it's predecessor in more ways than one!
This season's NFL 2K1 features: Multi-player Dreamcast-to-Dreamcast network play over the 'net for up to 8 players, Updated 2000-2001 team rosters and playbooks, create a player and create a team mode, draft mode, an all new Franchise mode where you act as the GM (dealing with salary caps, rookie signings, draft picks, etc.), graphics featuring a higher resolution and over 2000 motion captured animations, harder & much more realistic hits and blocks, An all new enhanced running game with new "juke", blocking and power moves, a more intelligent AI (Artificial Intelligence) and more!
I really have got to give Sega credit on this one, as they improved upon what was already the premier football title in the industry. The look of the game is better (although the turf seems less textured to me) than ever, with detail down to the sheen of the players' helmets. The Franchise mode, believe it or not, is actually quite fun, and gives you as close to a true to life General Manager experience tht most of us are ever going to have. The create a team/player option is always a good thing, and nothing is as enjoyable as actually placing yourself into a game (even though the player model is most likely a whole lot larger than real life! lol). Add on the fact that this is Sega's first SegaNet supported title (unless you count Chu Chu Rocket), and you have one of the best sports titles to be released this year!
NFL 2K1, in my humble opinion, is the best football game out on the market to date. Having said that, I also believe that this is one title that no Dreamcast library should justifiably be without.
