The name SEASONS GOLD came from my first golden whose name was Summer. The name is meaningful to me because, so many people spend their lives searching for GOLD, without realizing that the riches of this world are right outside your window. A golden retriever is the perfect companion to share the true riches of the seasons with. Whether splashing through waves on a summer beach, scattering fallen leaves on crisp autumn day, making snow angels in the fresh fallen winter snow, or jumping at butterflies through the blossoming spring wildflowers, a golden will bring joy to your outsides and warmth to your insides. On a bad day, they will show up with a ball in their mouth and an expression that says, leave it behind, it's time to play. On a good day they will beckon you with, "whatever makes you happy, makes me happy. Let's go!"
I have been breeding Golden Retreivers since 1989. I started with two pet goldens the year my husband and I got married. We both became addicted to the breed pretty quickly. Now, I can't imagine life without them. After loosing my first two goldens, I decided that if I was going to continue breeding them, I was going to breed the best goldens possible. I have come a long way since then. Today, all of my dogs come with champions in their 3 generation pedigree. They are all checked for health problems before breeding, and their pedigrees are also full of health clearences. I believe that all responsible breeders should have the ultimate goal of improving the breed for future generations. (My puppy section gives good info for anyone interested in buying a puppy.) I think many of my puppies have turned out nicer then my own dogs, since I try to balance flaws I see in the parents I pick for a litter.
SAMSON -It was Samson who showed me the difference that a champion pedigree makes. Before raising Samson, I believed that all goldens would go through a destructive adolescent stage. To the contrary, Samson at the age of 8 months was no more hyper then he is today. He never barked at night, chewed up things, or jumped on me as a pup. Today, he prances around the farm when visitors come, as if to say, "Hey, What do you think of MY place?" His arrogance is well earned.
I have truly enjoyed the wonderful people I have met through my dogs. I could write a book on the stories of how the goldens have touched their lives. Some of their stories are funny, some are happy, and some would bring tears to your eyes; and have brought them to mine. If you have had the pleasure of owning one of these wonderful dogs, I am sure that many stories come to your mind whenever you see one of their fuzzy faces. If you enjoyed them half as much as they enjoyed you, you have many great memories of the seasons you spent with your golden. Enjoy visiting our dogs. Maybe one of ours will remind you of a long lost friend.
Season's Gold Kennels is located on a horse farm outside Charlotte, North Carolina. We do summer horse, art, and dog training camps for kids. The dogs love all of our visitors. (Below is a picture of Lauren jumping Lucky in our advanced camp. He is a baby we raised. Friends have told me that I am a 'wanna be blonde', since all my animals are golden.... Nah! You can read more about our camp by clicking on the "Camp in the News" artical on the Home page. You can also go to our new website www.seasonsgold.com and click on "CAMP".
There have been at least 6 vet clinics in town who have recommended my dogs to their clients, some without knowing me, only my dogs. Have fun looking at my babies, and feel free to call me.
