THE HISS + FOUR DAY HOMBRE.
AT YORK FIBBERS.  16/ 02/ 03.

I dont know why but on the night of the gig I had a feeling things werent going to go according to plan. I was right. Firstly, the cash machine chewed up my cash card, then, on the way to the venue, I thought I had lost the tickets, and finally, on arrival, we were told that headline act The Sights had cancelled.
This ment that we had to put up with Four Day Hombre for even longer. They played for 45 minutes instead of the 30 minutes they would have played for. It felt like forever. They were soooooooooooo boring to watch. They made a promising start with a track called Too cool but things went downhill from there onwards. Every song sounded exactly the same. They all started off really slow then gradually built up to a fast, loud ending. They have a single coming out soon. From what I can remember of their set, the single was one of the worst tracks they performed. Watching Four Day Hombre was nearly as boring as what watching Turin Brakes was a couple of years ago in Hull. Turin Brakes are now massive. Maybe Four Day Hombre will make it big too. I personally think that is unlikely though.
As The Sights were nowhere to be seen, headlining duties were left to The Hiss. A job they coped with amazingly well. Its their first visit to the UK. They were ment to be supporting The Sights. For tonight at least though, they were headlining and making the most of it while they could. They opened with Triumph, a track I recognised immediately due a recent live session on Radio One. Its taken from their debut single which is a triple A side. All three tracks on it are good enough to released as three separate singles.
The Hiss are amazing live. Very slick too. There was no messing between songs. They have their set down to a fine art. There was no talking between songs either. Guess they were letting their music speak for them. These guys will be huge.
