HELL IS FOR HEROES + REUBEN + TYLER. AT YORK FIBBERS. 26/ 11/ 02.
Tyler to me seemed quite pointless. They had lots of talent and some great instrumentals. However I cant really see the point in having music with no lyrics. There were some here and there but not nearly enough. One of the things that made them stand out was the fact they had someone sat in the corner playing the cello for them. You dont normally get instruments such as the cello been played as part of a rock band. It made a nice change. I couldnt really see much of what was happening on stage because of the twats stood in front of me, some guy with his girlfriend. Neither seemed at all interested in watching any of the bands yet hogged the front row all night anyway. Grrrrrrrrr. I really hate it when that happens. I did get a slightly better view for Reuben though. They already have a big following. Lots of people seemed to know the lyrics to their songs and were happily singing along with them. I on the other hand had never heard anything by them. I was very impressed. They were a really good live band and I would recommend that you guys go see them as soon as possible. I expect they will be huge. Hell Is For Heroes already are huge. This was their first time in York. Waiting for them were a capacity crowd who gave the band the warmest of warm welcomes. I saw them briefly at the Leeds Festival over the summer. Since then they seem to have got bigger and better. Their mix of Emo-Metal went down well with the crowd, much of which was aged about 15, female and wearing ties. Outside the doors of the venue tonight was a big sign saying Anyone caught crowdsurfing will be thrown out and banned for life. Several fans did crowdsurf and at least one was thrown out of the back door to the side of the stage. Its abit unfair although I do see the venues point. Its really not safe to crowdsurf here as there is nowhere to crowdsurf to. The only place anyone crowdsurfing can go is on to the actual stage making it unsafe for the crowdsurfer, the crowd and the actual band. Their frontman was fantastic. During soon to be re-released single You Drove Me To It, he jumped into the crowd, crowdsurfed and then some how made it back to the stage in time for the chorus. The band promised to return next year before concluding with I Can Climb Mountains. I doubt they will be back though. The lead singer more than likely has a life time ban from the venue!
