EMBRACE.
AT SHEPHERDS BUSH EMPIRE. 03/09/04.

Never had I been in a venue filled with such anticipation! The atmosphere was electric as the crowd awaited Embrace's arrival on stage! The lights go down and the band  walk on. The crowd goes wild as chants of "Danny Danny Danny" ring out around me. The band start with the uplifting "Ashes", track one on their forthcoming album Out of nothing. The crowd love it and jump with sheer delight. Danny seems happy and literally can't stop smiling throughout the entire gig. The set list is varied, classics such as "All You Good Good People", "Retread", and "Come Back To What You Know" from The Good Will Out are belted out with gusto, and Danny holds his microphone into the crowd, seemingly overwhelmed by the response. A few diamonds from the second album "Drawn from memory" follow, and get the crowd leaping from their seats on the balcony!
The band played many tracks from the new album such as  the beautiful "Looking As You Are", the uplifting "Spell It Out" and current single "Gravity", which entered the UK Top 40 at number seven, ahead of the Thrills and The Prodigy. Danny gave thanks to Chris Martin and all the people that had stuck by the band in their 3 year absence and as I looked around I saw Embrace fans old and new with smiles across their faces. The crowd were truely satisfied as Danny's vocals echoed out around the venue. This was the night everyone will remember as Embrace proved that they can once again take on the charts, re-establishing themselves as one of the most important bands around. Embrace truely are the comeback kings!
