EASYWORLD + MEDIUM 21
AT YORK FIBBERS. 17/ 01/ 03.

This was our first gig of 2003. The venue was packed out when we arrived. I went to the toilet. Steve went to the bar. Then we both pushed our way through the crowd to the front in time for The Cranebuilders. I dont know much about them but the lead singer had a Liverpool accent so Im thinking that they might be from Liverpool. I might be wrong though. They received a mixed response from the capacity crowd. Some of the people I was with liked them but others didnt. I thought they were pretty good. Some of their songs were slow and mellow, others were fast and rocking. A couple of tracks reminded me alittle bit of Belle And Sebastian.
We saw Medium 21 here last month supporting Minuteman. Well see them here again in March supporting The Rain Band. Tonight they were supporting Easyworld. They made a really good job of it too. They were even better than last time we saw them. These guys will be huge. Their frontman is real cool. Their songs rock, especially latest release Acting Like A Mirror and next single Daybreak Vs Pride.  Both of which are taken from debut album Killings From The Dial which is due for release later in the year.
When Easyworld walked on to their intro music the crowd went wild. It seems the band have finally made it big. They now seem to have a big and loyal following. I expect the tours with King Adora helped with their quest for stardom. They opened with By The Sea for which Dav played keyboard. This lead straight into one of my favorite tracks Bleach. Their catchy mix of pop rock went down really well with the lively Friday night punters. A new slow track was dedicated to a couple in the audience before the title track from debut album This Is Where I Stand.
The band said very little during the 40 minute set. They were no doubt saving their energy for the rest of the 21 date tour. The whole crowd joined in during Demons. One of the highlights had to be new single Junkies, formally known as Junkies And Whores. I expect the record company had something to do with the same change. Hopefully enough people will buy the single to give Easyworld their first top 40 hit. There were a lot of new tracks performed. Most will appear on the new album set for release towards the end of the year. You And Me was performed second to last before they concluded with another new track called Goodnight. It was a very good night indeed.
