| AN INTERVIEW WITH�. HILDA FROM DRUGDEALER CHEERLEADER. WHO IS IN DRUGDEALER CHEERLEADER AND WHAT DOES EACH MEMBER DO? Ringo - hits, Neil - strums, Hilda - performs and we're currently looking for a new bassist 'cos the old one just used to sulk all the time! HOW DID YOU ALL MEET AND COME TO FORM A BAND TOGETHER? Me and Ringo went to Uni and formed Waterbratz! We then hooked up with Neil (who was playing in a covers band with Ringo). You wanted me to say we bumped into each other in a park toilet didn't you!! HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE OF MUSIC? Hi energy catchy punk n roll. WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES? Mine are Freddie Mercury, Bruce Dickinson, Axl and Seb Bach. I guess the bands are along the lines of GnR, ACDC, Stones, Ramones and Pistols WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO CALL YOURSELVES DRUGDEALER CHEERLEADER? Ringo being controversial as usual, a thought provoking name uh!? DO YOU DEAL DRUGS OR CHEERLEAD?! Why, you buying?? YOU�RE FORMED WITH MEMBERS FROM GLITTERBUG AND WATERBRATZ. ARE THOSE BANDS STILL TOGETHER WITH DIFFERENT LINE UPS OR HAVE THEY SPLIT? GB are still together, Rich from Waterbratz! is still there after Ringo joined and left. WB imploded when record companies dithered and didn't gamble on our obvious talent! I BOUGHT A GILLTERBUG SINGLE IN A BARGAIN BIN FOR 99P! WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT THEN?! You woz robbed, I got mine for free! WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE? Band-wise I guess playing The Astoria in London with Demolition 23 (Mike Monroe's band at the time). With DDCL I think it must be recording our debut album last weekend, it's not fully recorded or mixed yet but even now it'll knock yer block off!! IF YOU COULD PLAY WITH ANY OTHER BAND IN THE WORLD, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? Personally I would say Queen, but if it was the band I think we'd probably settle for the GnR line-up circa Appetite. WHICH BANDS HAVE YOU MOST ENJOYED GIGGING WITH? Rich Rags were great, but with DDCL we've done a tour with Catylyst who are a great bunch of lads. We've also done a couple of dates with Phluid who are also very cool peeps! WHAT ARE THE BEST AND WORST PARTS ABOUT PLAYING LIVE? Worst - Everything up until hitting the stage - getting there, soundcheck, hanging around. The best is when we're playing to a great audience who get into the spirit of what we're about - people who've just come along to have a good time and relieve some frustration! Enjoy yourself!! WHICH OF YOUR LYRICS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF? DDCL song - 'Don't show me you love me' simple...beautiful...classic! WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME? Wank, play & watch football (proper English footy, not that pansy egg chasing they do in the States), play pool, jet around the world, club and pub it....and of course making love to a beautiful lady! DO YOU PREFER HARIBO STARMIX OR HARIBO KIDDIES SUPERMIX?! I like the fizzy ones! HAVE YOU GOT ANY PLANS TO RELEASE AN ALBUM? yes yes yes...as I write we've just spent 2 x 10 hr days in the studio and we're planning to have 11 songs down for release around April?? WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BRAND OF EYELINER?! Ha, never been asked that before! Actually, I've never bought my own,I'm either given it or I steal it! DO YOU THINK BRITAIN SHOULD GO TO WAR WITH IRAQ? I think all the knuckleheads in the world (this includes all the weekend warrior wankers who love to fight anybody because they were staring at their pint or look a bit different) should be round up and be filmed punching the fuck out of each other for pay-per-view TV. The winner gets a speedboat! All the proceeds go to medical research, poverty stricken countries and the DDCL champagne, sex and coke fund! WHAT FIRST INSPIRED YOU TO PICK UP YOUR GUITARS AND FORM A BAND? I originally wanted to be a guitarist but soon realised that I couldn't be arsed and was much too talented to hide behind a piece of wood! But to answer your question, probably Iron Maiden! WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR ANYONE THINKING ABOUT STARTING UP A BAND? Get a bunch of mates/people together who all wanna do the same stuff as you. You all need to get on and pull in the same direction. Get yourself some gear (not marryjiwarna!) a rehearsal place and learn some covers and your own stuff. If you enjoy the hard work and don't mind spending all your time and money for no return then you're half way there!!! Don't EVER give up! ALL QUESTIONS BY MR MARTYN. |
