| AN INTERVIEW WITH... PAUL FROM BREED 77. SO FOR THOSE WHO DON�T KNOW, WHO IS IN BREED 77 AND WHAT DOES EACH MEMBER DO? Five of us � Paul Isola (Vocal & Perc); Danny Felice (Guitars); Pedro Caparros (Guitars); Stuart Cavilla (Bass) and Peter Chichone (Drums) HOW DID YOU ALL MEET AND COME TO FORM BREED 77 TOGETHER? We are all from Gibraltar except Pedro who is from Barcelona � Pedro joined the band last but the rest of us all know each other from the delivery room in the hospital !! HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE OF MUSIC? Fusion of Latin Cultures with Nu metal riffs WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES? System of a Down, Led Zepplin, Iron Maiden and Sepultura WHERE DID THE NAME BREED 77 COME FROM? We were called BREED but then got into a dispute with another band and had to change it to BREED 77 YOU HAVE A NEW ALBUM, 'CULTURA'. WHERE DID THE NAME FOR THE ALBUM COME FROM? It is Spanish for �Culture� and best represents a sound which straddles European and British cultures. It was an easy album to title because the music and message were so strong and obvious HOW HAS IT GONE DOWN WITH THE MUSIC PRESS? So far so good and that is saying something !! � All the key magazines seem to really like the album and also the sound MANY PEOPLE ARE UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THIS IS YOUR DEBUT ALBUM. THOSE PEOPLE ARE WRONG. TELL US ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS RELEASES. We had an album before this but it never really had a proper national release. But don�t worry � after we break this album there will be the original one coming quite quickly afterwards and you are all going to LOVE IT!! HOW DOES THE NEW ALBUM DIFFER FROM PREVIOUS MATERIAL? It is more ethnic and has much more Arabic and Spanish influences YOU'VE JUST BEEN ON TOUR AROUND THE UK. HOW WAS IT? Sensational, rewarding, bloody hard work and worth every last second !! DO YOU GET NERVOUS BEFORE GOING ON STAGE? Never � that is our stage and we are all powerful when we step on stage HOW DO YOU STRUCTURE YOUR SET? We try to get the crowd on to a journey and take them to all parts of our music world � sometimes we mix things up a bit depending on how the crowd are reacting WHICH TRACK DO YOU MOST ENJOY PERFORMING? Personally LA ULTIMA HORA because it seems to be the essence of what all of this is about WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO AFTER A GIG? Towel down and have a wash ! DO YOU EVER GET HOMESICK WHILE ON TOUR? Never � we avoid going back home because there are too many bills to pay and we have no money � they�ll never find us on the road !! IS IT DISHEARTENING ON NIGHTS FEW PEOPLE TURN OUT TO SEE YOU? No � we play every show as though it is the last and if we convert only a few people that is a job well done YOU WILL BE PLAYING THE MAIN STAGE AT THE DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL SOON. WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE PLAYING THE SPIRITUAL HOME OF ROCK, DONNINGTON? I can�t even begin to tell you but I know it will be best day of our musical careers to date !!!! WHICH OF THE OTHER BANDS PLAYING THAT WEEKEND DO YOU MOST WANT TO SEE? All of them � it is a special bill � THE ultimate rock fest line up 'THE RIVER' RECENTLY BECAME YOUR FIRST TOP 40 SINGLE. HOW DID IT FEEL WHEN YOU FIRST FOUND OUT YOUR CHART POSITION? Like a wank that lasted the whole evening !! WHAT IS THE BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT YOU COULD MAKE AS A BAND? Number 1 in the US would be good !!!!!!!! WHAT IS IT LIKE HEARING YOUR SONGS ON THE RADIO AND SEEING YOURSELVES IN MAGAZINES ETC The press is good but radio � you must be joking � we have not exactly been burning the airwaves up !! ANY IDEA WHAT THE NEXT SINGLE WILL BE OR WHEN IT WILL BE RELEASED? World�s on Fire � during the summer with some really special formats including DVD footage of the Cultura tour MUSICALLY AND LYRICALLY, WHICH OF THE SONGS YOU'VE WRITTEN IS YOUR FAVOURITE? That would be giving away a secret WOULD YOU EVER CONSIDER DOING ANY COVERS? We do a mean latino version of 666 number of the beast � it rocks WHAT FIRST MADE YOU WANT TO PICK UP A GUITAR AND JOIN/FORM A BAND? It was something we loved and it got us to London WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR ANYONE THINKING ABOUT STARTING UP A BAND? Be prepared to have the shit kicked out of you by the industry again and again and again � but at the end of day stand up and believe in your music and never take no for an answer !!
