SO FOR THOSE WHO DON�T KNOW, WHO IS IN ANTIHERO AND WHAT DOES EACH MEMBER DO?
pistol pete hurley - vocals + glory, davo attitude - bass + superstar, markus - guitar + practising, jack handsome - drums + soul.
YOU WERE ON TOUR RECENTLY. HOW DID IT GO?
it was awesome. we always have a good time on tour, i just wish we could do more of it. touring is what bands do best.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS BEFORE GOING ON STAGE?
it depends on the show. less and less, to be honest. we're kinda getting into a groove. we know who we are.
HOW DO YOU STRUCTURE YOUR SET?
it's pretty much powerful all the way through. right now it starts with "a girl called pain" and has "why do you look so scared" to break it up near the end.
WHICH TRACK DO YOU MOST ENJOY PERFORMING?
the new one, "dead on my feet". it's a killer hate song driven by power and emotion.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO AFTER A GIG?
go outside. have a beer.
DO YOU EVER GET HOMESICK WHILE ON TOUR?
yes and no. all of britain feels like home. our tours are never longer than a month though. it's hard to get down when you're having so much fun and feeling so many different emotions.
IS IT DISHEARTENING ON THE NIGHTS FEW PEOPLE TURN UP TO SEE YOU?
no. it's all part of the process of building up. it's always gonna be harder in new places. it's not your fault if noone comes and you certainly shouldn't take it out on the people who have come, which many shit bands do.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE ON YOUR RIDER?
when we have a rider it's usually just beer. i can't wait to have strippers and cocaine.
WHAT IS THE MOST SPINAL TAP MOMENT ANTIHERO HAVE EVER HAD ON TOUR?
i nearly missed a ferry and it had to wait for me while i ran about 400 metres with everyone onboard watching me. we set up our gear in a venue about 3 miles away from the one we were actually playing. our producer threw us out of the studio for our own sessions. we turned up for a gig in the middle of south wales that had been cancelled. people talk about spinal tap like it's ridiculous + hilarious. the reason why all bands love it is because it's so close to the truth.
YOU HAVE A NEW SINGLE, 'DON'T TRUST THE DJ'. WHAT IS THE TRACK ABOUT?
it's about living in a small town and how that makes you paranoid. then again, just because you're paranoid don't mean they're not after you...
THE TRACK HAS HAD AIRPLAY ON NATIONAL RADIO. THE VIDEO IS GETTING PLAYED ON ALL THE BIG MUSIC CHANNELS. IS IT SAFE TO SAY THAT THESE ARE EXCITING TIMES FOR THE BAND?
yes. ha ha ha.
TELL US THE STORY BEHIND THE VIDEO FOR THE TRACK.
it's about how good music is superior to bad music. it's not about genres like people might think.
I HEAR TELL THE VIDEO WAS EVEN SHOWN AT YOUR LOCAL CINEMA?!
i work on the bar there. it's kinda our spiritual home as it's the best bar in stratford so it was natural to have a launch party there for all our friends. we're a people's band. we're not gonna have a party in some trendy bullshit hangout where noone wants to go.
IS IT STRANGE SEEING YOURSELVES ON TV AND HEARING YOURSELVES ON THE RADIO ETC?
after all the work you put in, you deserve it. people see bands onstage rocking out. they forget years of boredom and frustration.
DO YOU FEEL ALL FAMOUS YET?!
no.
HAVE YOU STARTED WORK ON YOUR DEBUT ALBUM YET?
it's recorded, just not released. expect it in october, as long as there's no major fuck ups.
MUSICALLY AND LYRICALLY, WHICH OF THE SONGS YOU'VE WRITTEN IS YOUR FAVOURITE?
i guess "a girl called pain", "feelbad hit of the summer" and "dead on my feet" are my favourites, musically. i don't think any of my entire lyrics stand out especially. there's usually one or two good lyrics in each song.
WOULD YOU EVER CONSIDER DOING ANY COVERS?
we've done "where is my mind" by the pixies, "try again" by aaliyah and "love will tear us apart" by joy division.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT YOU COULD MAKE AS A BAND?
to be remembered as one of the greats. to not hate each other. to finish at the right time. to make a classic album.
WHAT BAND EXPERIENCE WOULD YOU LIKE TO RE LIVE?
i can't think of one. the best is all to come.
DID YOU STILL HAVE OTHER JOBS OR IS THE BAND NOW YOUR FULL TIME CAREER?
davo's a model, i work in a bar, marco works in a video shop, jack works putting up blinds.

WHO ARE YOUR FAVOURITE BANDS AT THE MOMENT?
recently i've been listening to motley crue, black flag, the distillers, the libertines, reuben, led zeppelin and the strokes. i'm a rock kid.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE WHOLE BIG BROTHER THING?
i think there are a lot of other things i could be doing instead. plus i'm always out at night times. each to their own.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHEESE?
cheddar. you can't beat it.
WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE YOU'VE HAD SEX?
the best is certainly in a bed. otherwise all the other normal places like in a car and under the stars. nothing crazy to report yet but i'll keep you posted.
WHAT KIND OF WALLPAPER DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR BEDROOM?
purple and covered in posters. evil dead, henry rollins and muhammed ali.
DO YOU WEAR SOCKS IN BED?
no. i don't think that's very good for you.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE FILMS?
fight club, my own private idaho, what's eating gilbert grape, stand by me, back to the future, trainspotting, i could go on and on....
DO YOU EVER READ ANY OF THE MESSAGES YOUR FANS LEAVE ON YOUR FORUM?
yeah, all the time. it's a good way to announce things without doing big mailouts every ten seconds.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR?
we have our debut album coming out in october titled "THIS IS AN EMERGENCY" and a new single in september called "BODY ROT". make everyone buy everything we do. it's all good......
