Sendo Z100
Z100, it looks larger than many phones currently on the
market, but when you see the 176x220-pixel TFT display that supports 65,000 colors,
you immediately understand why. We found the display to be extremely bright and
reminiscent of color Pocket PC PDAs. As bulky as the Z100 looks, it only weighs
three and a half ounces, which is lighter than the tiny Nokia 3390. The Z100
supports 2.5G GPRS (general packet radio service) and includes the SMS and WAP
support that you would expect to see in a cellular phone, but theres more.
Included in the package are a speakerphone, support for MP3 and WMA audio
files, email, and an HTML browser. Add in Mobile Outlook, and this phone starts
to look like a lot more than just a cell phone. Inside, the Z100 includes 16MB
of RAM for additional applications or audio files, but the phone also provides
an expansion slot that supports both MMC (multimedia card) and SD (secure
digital) memory cards. To provide all these functions, Sendo uses an OMAP
processor from Texas Instruments. The processor incorporates a DSP (digital
signal processor) with an ARM RISC processor to provide the performance
necessary for all those Z100/Stinger features.
