PART 4:  "AVENGING BOSLEY!"

CHAPTER 22: TIFFANY WELLES: “NEW ENGLAND ANGEL AND THUGS IN THE ALLEY!”

In the late spring of 1980, only one year after being one of Charlie’s detectives, or Angels, Tiffany Welles was suddenly faced with a heart-tugging dilemma. Her father wanted her to come back to Boston to work with him….but she also loved working with Kris and Kelly there in L.A.! Originally she had graduated in the top ten of her class from the Boston Police Academy in 1978. After a little over a year of that, her father (a well known Boston Police Lieutenant) and one of his life-long friends—a man named Charles Townsend presented her with the idea of coming to work for Charlie. One of his ‘Angels’, as he called them, had gotten remarried and now was pregnant. He needed a new Angel and thought Tiffany would be perfect!

For a year she had come to know and love two other Angels, Kelly and Kris. Together, the three of them and Bosley, solved some of the most interesting, and sometimes the most bizarre, cases Tiffany had ever thought possible. From her first case—recovering stolen artifacts on a famous cruise ship in the Caribbean—to helping catch a man trying to get revenge on Kelly by ‘shooting’ her up with heroine; helping Kelly, Kris, and Bosley prove that Kris’ sister Jill wasn’t really an accomplice to a famous diamond thief; surviving being trapped on a deserted island while a mad-man tried to hunt all of the Angels down one-by-one; her nightmares tell the future when the possible spirit of a murdered woman helps Tiffany stop history from repeating itself (Tiffany still occasionally thinks about this case and wonders if it really was the spirit of the woman helping them); helping Kris and Kelly deal with each other over the love for the same man while helping find out whether Kelly is really a long-lost heroine to millions, and many many more!!

This last case with Kris and Kelly fighting over the same man happened to be Tiffany’s last one for Charles Townsend Investigations. A couple weeks later Tiffany’s father contacted her with the proposition of coming back to the Boston PD. He was being put in charge of a special new undercover unit that would specialize in going under cover with some of the more unique, even classy, assignments. Instead of dealing with psychotic drug dealers, hookers, and deranged killers of the streets, they would be dealing with the drug trafficking, murders, and any other illegal activities of the rich and powerful crowd.

It was a very difficult decision but Tiffany decided to go for it. She also loved the idea of working with her father. There would be a select few police officers that would specifically work these cases. It was exciting and scary at first but Tiffany loved it! She quickly rose to the top of the unit and they all helped catch and stop some of the drug dealers and murderers that before had been almost impossible to catch because of money, power, and politics.

In 1982 Tiffany met a new homicide sergeant, a man named Paul McMillan. There were a few times when they ended up working the same case and the quickly became very close. In 1984 they married and settled in the Boston area. Two years later, in 1986, they had a son they named Todd and the next year, in ’87, they had another son they named Tyler. As did Sabrina when Andy was born, Tiffany took time off work to be with the babies. Besides, Paul did NOT want her around any form of danger or possible harm once Todd and Tyler were born. However, she did still help out by going over case information with Paul at home, talking to and recording info from informants by phone, etc… But Paul and Tiffany’s father made sure she stayed out of the action for a couple years.

It was during this time that she made several trips back to the warm climate of California to see Kris and David and Kelly and Alan. Todd and Tyler became especially close with Kris’ son Ryan while they were all growing up. They were the same age and considered each other family. After both boys were a couple years into school Tiffany went back into the field. Most of the cases weren’t too dangerous but there were a few that even ended up having some shooting—much to Paul’s dismay. By this time Tiffany’s father had retired and she took over what was jokingly called the ‘Hollywood Unit’ within the department. Now, for the past thirteen years she had been a well known and respected lieutenant herself, as was Paul. However, they rarely worked the same case, department policy didn’t like married couples working together.

Ever since Kris had called a few days before with her bizarre experiences and was trying to get a hold of Charlie, Tiffany had talked to Charlie several times wanting to know the progress of finding out what was going on. When Charlie had called early that morning and told her the news about Bosley it had hit her hard! She immediately made plans to have Kelly and Sabrina stay with her and Paul. She also contacted some police friends and contacts she had in the Brockton area to try and find Frank Averyt.

At Logan National Airport, Tiffany waited for Kelly and Sabrina’s plane to land. She couldn’t wait to see both of them, for the last time she’d seen either one had been at Bosley’s funeral. Her heart jumped as she saw both of them come out through the security gate. Charlie, Tiffany, and the Boston PD had talked with airport executives and had special security set up to allow Kelly and Sabrina through with their guns. Once through security they all stared at each other for about three seconds before they threw themselves into each other’s arms and began crying. Some tears were from the joy of seeing one another again but most were for Bosley.

“I’m so sorry, Kelly, Sabrina! I can’t believe this, it’s like a horrible nightmare!” Tiffany exclaimed as tears streamed down her face. “Do we know why or who this woman is yet?”

“No, we’re still trying to figure it all out. It’s so good to see you again, Tiff! I’m just sorry it has to be under these circumstances,” Kelly replied, wiping her tears away with the back of her hand.

“We’re hoping that this Frank Averyt will be able to tell us something,” Sabrina stated, wiping her tears away as well.

“I’ve got people out tracking him down, we’ll get ‘em,” Tiffany replied as they made their way out of the airport. They made small talk as they walked towards Tiffany’s police issue unmarked Crown Victoria---basically Kelly and Sabrina filling Tiffany in on how their husbands and/or kids were doing. On the way to Tiffany’s house, to let Sabrina and Kelly drop their suitcases off, Charlie called Sabrina’s cell phone. He informed her that the medical examiner he had testing Bosley’s remains had definitely found traces of an exotic African poison. After leaving their bags at Tiffany and Paul’s house they proceeded to the Boston PD to start looking into leads for finding Averyt.

“Lt. McMillan, here’s the info on the latest whereabouts of Frank Averyt that was just faxed over from Brockton,” Officer Bennett stated as he handed Tiffany a stack of papers.
“Thanks, Jake! Anything else?” Tiffany inquired as she sat down at her desk.

“Yeah, your Sgt. Belson friend over in Brockton wants you to call him. It has to do with Averyt. Who are these two sexy ladies? Friends of yours?” Kelly and Sabrina smiled, rolled their eyes, and looked towards the ground.

“Jake!” Tiffany exclaimed. “Try and pretend to be a gentleman, okay? These two….sexy friends of mine, as you so colorfully put it, are true ladies. They’re not two ‘ladies-of-the-night’ that you’re frequently bringing in on a bust.”

“How about one of you….or both of you and I go out to dinner sometime, or go out for a drink?” Jake propositioned with a huge smile, ignoring Tiffany. Kelly gave a big fake smile in return and held up her wedding ring. He then looked at Sabrina.

“Uh….I don’t think so, dude. My son can’t be that much younger than you! Sorry, Jake, but I don’t think it’s gonna’ happen,” Sabrina replied, smiling.

“Officer Bennett, I think you have other work to tend to, right?” Tiffany prodded. Jake laughed and started walking off, but then turned around.

“Hey, McMillan, you know I’d ask you out too if it wasn’t for Paul,” he teased. Tiffany wadded up a piece of blank copy machine paper and threw it at him. It hit him in the back of the head as he let out a string of ornery laughter as he walked away. Sabrina and Kelly chuckled.

“Well, Tiff, I’d say you have yourself a flirtatious little friend there! Maybe you should tell Paul he’s got competition,” Kelly joked. Tiffany rolled her eyes and laughed.

“Oh right! Paul would really go for that! Besides, Bennett’s just kidding….at least with me he is. Jake’s a horny little butt-head but he’s harmless. Basically, if it walks in here, has two legs, and no penis he’ll flirt with it.” This humorous crude remark broke all three of them up in laughter. “He usually purposely does it to the hookers that are brought in. They know he’s messin’ with ‘em and it pisses them off. Now, let me call Frank Belson over in Brockton. He’s an old sergeant friend of mine and he might have some new information on where Averyt is,” Tiffany stated, picking up her desk phone.

Sgt. Frank Belson had been with the Boston PD for years. Then in ’96 he decided he wanted a change, so he transferred out to Brockton. In a few years, he planned to retire. Over the years he was in Boston, Sgt. Belson, Tiffany’s father, and in turn Tiffany herself had become close friends.

“Hey, Welles, what’s goin’ on? I hear you’re lookin’ for Frank Averyt. Nice guy, huh?” Belson shot into the phone when he answered.

“Belson, you know darn good and well that I’ve been McMillan for nineteen years now! Hello, goof-ball, you were at the wedding,” Tiffany replied, laughing.

“Yeah, I know, but you’ll always be a Welles to me. So, you’ve got two other lady detectives with you and you’re all looking for Averyt. Who are the two women with you?”

“Kelly Samuelson, used to be Garrett, and Sabrina Duncan. They’re both from Charlie’s agency that we all used to work for. You might remember them from the wedding, Frank.”

“Oh yeah, yeah, two sexy little numbers, brunettes if I remember right. Are they still as good lookin’ now as they were then?”

“Belson, shut up! Can we get back to business now? What do you have on Averyt?” Tiffany demanded, chuckling. Sgt. Belson laughed and told her that they’d actually been watching Averyt themselves for quite awhile, for his possible involvement in another murder, unrelated to poisons. The Brockton PD suspected he was involved in the murder of a well-known business man—who ended up with a bullet in the back of his head while getting into his Lincoln Town car at his office parking lot. The wife, now widow, had immediately wanted to know when she could get the life insurance plus the rest of his holdings. The police had most of the evidence they needed but were waiting for the pay-off between the two, to catch them red-handed so-to-speak. Belson told Tiffany to come on down and bring Kelly and Sabrina with her, Averyt was staying in an old but classy & fixed-up hotel. He said they could help with the bust, if there ended up being one. They got back into Tiffany’s police issue Crown Vic and headed for Brockton.

On the twenty-four mile trip, the three of them reminisced, discussed, and laughed over different cases they had all solved for Charlie—as well as ones on their own after Townsend Investigations shut down. One certain case of Kelly’s had them almost crying with laughter. Several years before, a husband had seemed distraught over his wife having minor surgery at the hospital where she and Alan worked. However, after a couple sessions with him, Kelly realized that it wasn’t really the wife’s surgery that the man was having problems with. He was wanting help dealing with what he called his wife’s ‘hang-ups.’ He wanted Kelly to tell him what to do once his wife came home. It seems that the husband enjoyed ‘parading’ around his grounds and working in his giant garden in nothing more than a male thong. This had caused quite a stir with neighbors, friends, and other family members. Before the wife had gone in for her surgery, she had told the husband to figure out and correct the problem or divorce would soon follow after she was released from the hospital. Kelly had suggested that he wear shorts outside and save the thong for inside only!

Once in Brockton, Tiffany headed straight for the police department. Sgt. Belson was thrilled to see her, it had been a couple years since he’d last seen her and he immediately wanted to know about Paul, the kids, and her father.

“So, your father is enjoying this retirement condominium complex he lives in? I never thought he’d move to some place like Florida.”

“Well, to be honest, me either. But, the doctors all said that a warmer climate would definitely help his arthritis, especially during Boston’s harsh winters. However, he flies back pretty frequently,” Tiffany answered him. Then he turned to Sabrina and Kelly.

“If we could all age as well as you two have, then the whole world would have sex on the mind 24-7! Not that I’m calling you old by any means! I feel like we could all be like thirty-five again….maybe thirty-seven for me,” he joked. They all laughed and Kelly and Sabrina thanked him.

“So, Sgt. Belson, what do you have on Frank Averyt?” Sabrina asked, trying to bring him back to the case.

“We’re trailing him as we speak! According to our informants, the pay-off from the widow should happen sometime today! I’m heading over to the hotel Averyt’s been staying in, wanna’ come along?” They all got in Belson’s unmarked cruiser and headed for Averyt’s hotel.

“Yeah, I always enjoy gettin’ the criminals that have the same first name as I do. Can’t have the name ‘Frank’ looking bad for the ladies,” Belson joked as he drove through Brockton’s streets. At Averyt’s hotel, they waited for almost an hour when suddenly the wire-tap van radioed to Belson and said they’d just overheard a call from the widow. She and Averyt were to meet at the end of a dead-end alley, between two abandoned warehouses—owned by the murdered businessman. A few minutes later Frank Averyt walked out and got into a classic, beautifully restored white 1957 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. Belson followed the Bonneville as they drove further into Brockton.

The ‘Ike-era’ Pontiac soon slowed and turned down an old alleyway. Sgt. Belson parked his Crown Vic across the street but where they could all see down the alley. Sabrina used a pair of binoculars to watch Averyt slowly drive to the end.

“Ya’ know, if it wasn’t for that beautiful, shiny chrome-trimmed boat that he thinks he has to show off, Averyt might not be that noticeable. But that ‘50’s convertible shows up like a diamond in a rock pile,” she remarked with some surprised sarcasm. She figured Averyt would have been a little smarter than to cause himself to be so noticeable.

“It’s like a cue-ball, you can’t miss ‘em!” Belson threw in, chuckling in delight.

“What does the ‘black widow’ in mourning drive?” Kelly asked, as she too watched with binoculars.

“She drives a brand new ’03 BMW, silver one I think,” Belson replied.

“Black widow climbing down the web as we speak, folks,” Tiffany suddenly announced with some excitement in her voice. They all looked and saw the silver BMW pull down the alley and move towards the Bonneville.

“Averyt must be desperate for money and work to be taking chances like this,” Belson commented.

“Okay, what’s your plan?” Kelly asked him. Belson told them that there were two walkways into the alley from the sides. They decided that Belson would slowly try and sneak down the main drive through, the same way Averyt and Mrs. Carver drove down. Kelly and Sabrina would take one walkway from one side and Tiffany, along with three uniformed officers would take the other walkway—from the other side. They got to their positions and watched as Widow Carver handed Averyt a large black suitcase. Both started back to their cars when one of the rookies with Tiffany got too excited too quick.

“Freeze….police! Get your hands up, idiot!” the officer yelled at Averyt, running towards him. The outburst shocked everyone, but Averyt was quick! He bolted like a cat with its tail on fire and popped over the door of his Pontiac and into the driver’s seat, black suitcase beside him. The Bonneville sprang to life and roared up the alley! However, Averyt slammed on his brakes when he saw a police cruiser was blocking the mouth!

“Awww dumb-ass!” Belson muttered under his breath as he saw the rookie jump-the-gun on the sting. He and two other officers began running towards Averyt and his Pontiac. “Okay, Frank, get out of the car now! You are under arrest for murder, get your hands up!” He and the other officers, guns pointed at Averyt, ran up the front and side of the Convertible. Averyt complied and put his hands in the air, then slowly opened the door of the Pontiac—a bizarre smile on his face.

“Well, Sergeant, it looks as if you’ve caught me. Congratulations, I’m impressed!” Averyt sarcastically leered as one of the uniformed officers walked towards him with handcuffs.

“Shut up, stupid, we’re just getting started with you! I’m arresting you for the murder of Matthew Carver, along with his ‘grieving’ widow,” Belson spat at him, gesturing towards Melinda Carver—who the other two officers were now handcuffing while she screamed and cussed at them. “However, there are three other people who want a crack at you first.” This last remark caused Averyt to lose the smile on his face and he looked nervous.

“What the hell are you talking about, you tub of guts?” he shot back. Belson ignored the insult about his weight.

“You’ll see soon enough, you piece of crap! Now, get your hands behind you for the cuffs,” he ordered him. Averyt started to comply when suddenly he kicked the uniformed officer in the stomach and shoved him over. He then took off down the walkway to his right.

“He’s commin’ up the West walkway, be ready!” Belson shouted in his radio, which was to Kelly and Sabrina.

“Here he comes!” Kelly shouted. Both of them had their Glocks ready. Averyt suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. Sabrina and Kelly both noticed that he had a 45.

“Don’t move, Mr. Averyt, you’re under arrest! We also need to talk about a job you did back in February of ’97.” Sabrina shouted, Glock pointed right at his chest area. He stared in shock at her before he suddenly had his gun up and fired it! Sabrina and Kelly both jumped behind an old dumpster and a pile of old boxes. The shot ricocheted off the dumpster and went into the brick wall. Averyt took off back the way he had come, back into the main alley. There, he and Sgt. Belson had a little shoot-out of their own before he made it into the other walkway.

When Tiffany saw that he was headed for her walkway, she and the two uniforms with her ran back up a ways and hid behind another dumpster and some old crates stacked along the sides of the warehouses. As Averyt ran along Tiffany stepped out, her Glock aimed straight at him!

“That’s far enough, Frank! You’re under arrest!” she stated loudly while holding him at gunpoint. He continued to stare in shock, as if it all seemed surreal to him. He started to turn back the other way again, but he saw Kelly and Sabrina running up towards them. He was trapped! He then started to raise his 45 at Tiffany, but she contemplated his move. “Don’t even think about it! You even blink….and I will drop your ass where it stands!” she screamed at him, her finger already half squeezing the trigger. By now Kelly and Sabrina had reached them and trapped him from behind. One of the officers took his gun from him. Frank Averyt looked scared, shocked, and uncertain as he rapidly glanced back and forth from Tiffany to Sabrina and Kelly.

“I….I….I know who all of you are! You’re the bitches that worked for that Townsend guy. What the hell do you want?

“What do we want? What do we want? What the hell do you think we want, stupid! You murdered one of our best friends, someone who we considered family! We want to know who hired you….NOW!” Kelly screamed at him.

“It was…six years ago! Look, don’t take it personally, girls, I was only doing my job! It was purely business!” Averyt replied. Everyone looked at him in putrid disgust.

“We take it VERY personally, you psychotic piece of crap! John Bosley was a wonderful person and one of the most respectable men I’ve ever known! I want the name of the woman who hired you in 1997 to kill him and I want it NOW!” Sabrina angrily ordered him. Averyt suddenly got a surprised look on his face.

“You mean you really don’t know? He then let out a howl of laughter.

“We wouldn’t be asking you, stupid, if we did. Now, no more small talk. Give us the name of the woman before I hand you over to Sgt. Belson. However, I’m sure you’ll be sent back to California to be tried for Bosley’s murder after you’re tried for Matthew Carver’s here. I want you to know that I will do everything and anything possible to ensure that you WILL get the death penalty! The name, Frank!” Tiffany demanded.

“I’m not going down for the Bosley guy alone! I’ll tell you the name, it means nothing to me! It was some woman named….Wellman….Lynn Wellman! That’s all I remember, almost everything was done over the phone! I only met her once!” The name, especially the last name, stunned the Angels and for a few moments all they could do was stare at him.

“Are….are you sure that’s the right name? This is the woman that hired you?” Kelly asked, still not quite sure she’d heard right.

“Yes! She’s the one who hired me! Do I need to say it a third time?” Averyt spat sarcastically!

“Look, butt-fuzz, you open your sick mouth one more time and I’ll shove my gun so far down your throat to shoot, you’ll be crappin’ bullets for the rest of your pathetic life!” Sabrina screamed at him. By now Averyt was getting irritated at being insulted. Usually he was in control and was doing the insulting.

“Look, you stupid sluts, I was paid to do a job and I did it! It was only business. It’s your problem, not mine, whether you like it or not! I don’t give a crap!”

“That’s enough, I’m placing you under arrest!” Sgt. Belson declared from behind Kelly and Sabrina.

“We’ve gotta’ get a hold of Charlie, Bri, and immediately let him, Kris, Jill, and Julie know who set this whole thing up!” Kelly exclaimed as one of the officers started to put handcuffs on Averyt. Suddenly, he shoved the officer down and grabbed his gun in the process!

“Alright, everybody start backing back down to the alley, except for you, bitch!” he screamed, the last vulgarity referring to Tiffany who was the only one blocking the way he planned to take out. He forced all of them, except Tiffany to start backing down, first dropping their guns.

“You’ll never get away, not for very long, anyway! We will hunt you down no matter where you go! We’ll never let up, Frank! Looking over your shoulder will become a constant, everyday habit. It’d be better to turn yourself in now!” Sabrina taunted, trying to psych him out into giving up.

“Shut up! Where I’m going, you’ll never find me! Okay, your turn, blondie!” he hissed at Tiffany. “Drop the gun first! Otherwise I’ll make you a permanent part of the wall.” She slowly started to lower the gun. However, she glanced at Kelly and Sabrina, who both winked at her. Something was up. Tiffany continued to slowly lower her Glock but tightened her grip on it. Suddenly, Kelly cried out!

“Mrs. Carver, no! Don’t shoot!” This outburst caught him off guard and Averyt whipped around, fully facing the others—stupidly turning his back on Tiffany. Averyt realized it was a trap but it was too late!

“Drop it now!” Tiffany screamed at him, her Glock now pointed at his chest area. He lowered the gun he was holding but didn’t drop it. “I said drop it! I WILL not ask you again! Don’t make me kill you!” He suddenly got a bizarre grin on his face.

“Try it, skank!” he replied as he suddenly jerked his gun up and aimed it towards Tiffany. However, she had contemplated his move and the second she saw his hands move, Tiffany fired her Glock twice. Both shots vibrated throughout the alley and hit Frank Averyt in the chest, slamming him against the wall behind him. He coughed up some blood before finally lying still, his eyes fixed in a death-stare. Everyone rushed up to them and Belson checked his pulse.

“He’s dead,” he declared, emotionless. He then radioed for more uniforms and the coroner’s van.

“I’ve shot and actually killed someone only twice before in all the years of my police career. I can honestly say this is the first time I’m not really sorry I had to do it,” Tiffany stated. Kelly walked up and hugged her.

“I’ll call Charlie and Andy and tell them what’s happened. Then we need to tell Kris, Jill, and Julie! We know who’s still out there and none of us are safe until we stop her,” Sabrina declared, getting out her cell phone. Later that night, Tiffany and Paul did their best to help everyone calm down and try to relax while they ate, laughed, and exchanged stories at their house.

CHAPTER 23: JULIE ROGERS-“HAWAIIAN ANGEL, TROUBLE IN PARADISE!”

When Julie Rogers first met Kelly and Kris in the Fall of 1980, she was actually suspicious of them and had no inclination towards friendship—or even more so the idea of them becoming like family. She had grown up in a less-than-reputable part of New York and like most of the others from that neighborhood, had started off on the wrong path. Julie eventually went to California to try and become a model but she hung around the wrong crowd and even ended up getting herself arrested. However, it was for a minor offense. She had bills to pay and saw an add for a wanted receptionist. At twenty-four she didn’t have anything to wear and had no money. Her family couldn’t help for her mother had died three years before of acute alcoholism and she hadn’t seen her father since she’d been very small. To have something to wear to an interview, Julie tried to shoplift a dress.

She was caught and arrested. She’d given up all hope that anyone cared or that she’d get anywhere in her life. Ever since she’d been in high school, Julie had wanted to be a supermodel, maybe even get into some acting if the opportunity came along. However, that now seemed impossible. But her parole officer, a Lieutenant Harry Sterns, changed all that! Harry helped her get a modeling job at one of the most prestigious modeling agencies in Los Angeles, the Dale Woodman Agency.

Julie was a very beautiful girl, with gorgeous red hair and striking blue eyes. She immediately went to the top and was one of Woodman’s best models. While she worked at the modeling agency, she began noticing a lot of drugs getting sold at the agency parties. A sleazy guy with the ridiculous (obviously fictitious) name of ‘Jimmy Joy’ seemed to take ‘joy’ in fixing the girls up with the drug of their choice, usually cocaine. She told Harry about it and they, along with the police, set up their own sting. Julie and Harry would work together to try and get enough proof and information to bust ‘Jimmy Joy’ and even Dale Woodman if possible. Then her roommate Jody Mills was murdered and things seemed to go crazy after that. This was also when she first met Kelly.

The morning after Julie had found Jody dead in an alley, Harry had come over to try and keep her strong and comfort her. Kelly suddenly showed up at her door and started asking questions about Jody and what might be going on at the Woodman Agency. Never having seen Kelly before, and of course not knowing that Kelly was working the same case she and Harry were, Julie was immediately suspicious and didn’t trust her any further than she could spit. Then a couple days later, her worst fears came true, Harry was shot and killed—by ‘Jimmy Joy’ no less! Then Julie found out that Kelly, Kris, and Bosley were really private detectives, hired by Jody Mills’ family to investigate what was going on at the modeling agency. Once Harry was killed, though, Julie felt like she was all alone again, that there was no one left that cared.
Kelly, Kris, and Bosley changed all that! They showed her that they cared and wanted to help her. After they all ended up catching ‘Jimmy Joy’ and helped shut Dale Woodman down, Charlie and Bosley arranged for Julie to come and work for them. For the next year she came to know and love them as her family—for she had no other family members. Several cases took place in Hawaii and Julie absolutely adored the tropical state and loved the times she and the other Angels spent there. It was truly paradise to her and she vowed to actually live there someday. From stopping political assassins at a Hawaiian singles resort and almost getting ‘filleted’ on a deep sea diving trip, to stopping kidnappers of hula dancers and being hypnotized to almost become an assassin herself—the cases she, Kris, and Bosley worked on were more exciting….and dangerous than Julie ever thought possible! She loved every one and finally felt as though she was cared about, needed, and had a purpose!

However, after only one year of her working in Townsend Investigations, Charlie decided to retire. In 1981 he officially closed the detective agency, but he promised to help each Angel find a new job and/or career before stopping their salaries. Immediately Julie wanted to relocate back to Hawaii! Going back to her original love of modeling, she wanted to start her own modeling agency. She first modeled some again herself to get her name back in the ‘pool.’ After a couple years of that she had become one of the Aloha state’s top models! In 1984, Julie, and a couple of other models she had come to know, formed their own company—The Rogers & Barlow Agency. Together they all started sponsoring and became agents for new models starting out. They quickly became well known and strong competition for the reputable agencies already in business. During that time Julie started to notice within the world of fashion ‘tinsel town’ an immense amount of drugs, prostitution (under the guise of modeling or ‘servicing’ certain clients), disappearances of some models—who would later turn up dead, etc…

With Charlie’s connections and Julie’s reputation with the Honolulu Police, from when she worked for the Townsend Agency, she was eventually able to set up special assignments with police to start watching and recording certain instances of drugs or suspected prostitution. Over the next several years, Julie—and her business partners Cynthia Barlow and Hawaiian native Noreen Michioka—secretly helped carry out some of the most lucrative ‘stings’ in Hawaiian history! Julie often joked that ‘Steve McGarrett’ (aka Jack Lord) would be proud!
In 1987 Cynthia Barlow fell in love, got married, and became pregnant. She sold out her partnership to Julie and then Noreen was made full partner. It then became the Pictures of Paradise Agency, Inc. The agency continued to flourish and make money. They soon were one of the most popular modeling agencies in Hawaii and also became very well known in the other major cities on the mainland as well! In 1988, Julie met and eventually married a lawyer, Elliot Westerfield. They were happily married for several years but they never had children. Both of their jobs took up most of their time and they felt it wouldn’t be fair to a child to hardly ever be around. In 1992, Elliot was diagnosed with cancer and it had spread throughout his body, he was given four to six months to live. After eight months, Elliot passed away.

Julie took it very hard and didn’t know if she could continue on with the agency. However, Bosley came and stayed with her for awhile (as he did with Kris when David had been killed) and Kelly and Kris also did at different times. Tiffany, Sabrina, Jill, and Charlie all called many times to console her and see if she needed anything. Slowly, Julie started to get her life back together and threw herself into work. After a couple years she even dated some. One relationship became serious enough that she felt they might marry! But then she found out that he was also having an affair with one of her and Noreen’s top models. Julie broke off their relationship and continued to work, usually ‘island hopping’ to different photo shoots on several of the Hawaiian islands. However, she had lately been casually dating a good friend of hers, a Kauai police lieutenant, Tom Kokua. She once again felt their relationship starting to gear towards possible seriousness but she was definitely taking things slow and cautious.

Julie had talked with Charlie many times since he’d first called her with the crazy tales of what had happened to Kelly, Kris, and Sabrina. However, this last call from him was just as bad and as hard to take as when she’d found out that Elliot had cancer. When Charlie told her about the new information they had concerning Bosley, she could hardly talk through her sobs. She immediately wanted to help and could hardly wait until Kris and Jill would get there! She had good police friends and contacts on the island of Kauai and as soon as she got off the phone with Charlie, Julie called Tom Kokua. He too was eager to help any way he could. The Kauai Police had been trying to bust David Alston for several years but lacked enough tangible evidence.

When Charlie retired and had asked the Angels what they’d like to keep, Julie (like Kris had with the Camaro) wanted the bright red 1980 Pontiac Firebird Convertible—the car she and Kelly had driven while working for Charlie in Hawaii. Charlie didn’t ship it to the mainland like Kris’ Camaro. When he knew that she was planning on relocating back to Oahu, he left the Firebird at his estate the Angels had used as their headquarters while working for him there. As a special surprise, he let Julie live in that estate once back in Hawaii. She, Cynthia, and Noreen had used it for many of their first photo shoots when they’d started their own agency. Over several years, Julie slowly paid Charlie off for the estate and by the late ‘80’s she paid it off! Like Kris and the Camaro, Julie still had the Firebird, along with several other cars used for her business.

The trade winds warm on her face and the palm trees glistening in the early morning sun, Julie peeled out of her driveway in the Firebird. However, she was not thinking of palm trees or tropical breezes. The tears were hardly dry on her face as she headed for Honolulu International Airport. She had plenty of time before Kris and Jill’s flight would arrive, but Julie wanted to be there early.

As Tiffany and Charlie had at the Boston Airport, he and Julie had worked it out with Honolulu International to have special security set up for Jill and Kris. They were to let them through with their Glocks. Out of all the Angels, Julie probably had the most regular contact with Charlie. Both of them lived in Hawaii and even though he was retired, once in a while Charlie still helped out with certain police operations, usually ones Julie was working on, dealing with drugs or murder within the modeling world. However, no one knew which island Charlie would be on at any given time. He had estates on each of the islands, as well as many of the major cities on the mainland. If Julie needed Charlie to help with information on someone or help set up contacts, it still was always by phone.

The plane landed and Kris and Jill made it through the security in minutes. The second they saw each other the tears once again flowed and they hugged and sobbed.

“I’m so glad to see both of you! It’s been so long!” Julie exclaimed as they wiped their tears away and continued to hug.

“I know! It’s ironic that the reason we were all together the last time is the reason we’re together now. I just wish the reason was a joyous one! But it is so good to see you, Jules!” Kris replied and they all smiled through their tears.

“Well, we better get moving! My plane to Kauai leaves in just a little while,” Julie stated as they walked out of the airport and got into the Firebird.

“I haven’t seen this car for years! I still have the Camaro too! I see you’ve kept yours in as good of shape as I have mine,” Kris pointed out, admiring the Pontiac!

“It’s my baby! It gets a wash and wax job every week!”

“If only we all could be so lucky!” Kris jokingly replied and they all laughed as Julie pulled out of the airport parking lot.

“This Firebird is pretty awesome, maybe later you’ll let me see how fast it can still go,” Jill threw in and more laughter followed.

“I don’t think so, I want to keep it in one piece!” Julie kidded her back as Jill pretended to be hurt and threw a fake punch to Julie’s arm as they all laughed some more.

“So, are we flying to Lihue Airport in Kauai later this afternoon or tonight?” Kris asked as the Firebird flew past Waikiki Beach.

“No, I didn’t have time to explain to Charlie earlier. We’re going to my house first so I can take care of a few last minute business matters. Then we’re going to a private airstrip not far from the estate where Noreen and I have our own private jet we use for the business. We’ll be taking that to the private airport at the Princeville resort. Pictures of Paradise has a special condominium at Princeville, that we use when doing photo shoots on Kauai. We can stay there while finding David Alston.”

“Princeville! I’ve stayed at a couple resorts in Hawaii but never there, I hear it’s almost like royalty!” Jill exclaimed as Julie pulled into the drive of her estate.
“This place sure brings back memories,” Kris remarked out loud as she thought back to the last year working for Charlie. While Julie talked to Noreen and made a few other calls, Jill and Kris sat around the pool and exchanged ‘Bosley stories’—Kris’ being one where as a joke, Kelly, Julie, and herself ended up pushing Bosley into the pool they were now sitting around. Julie was soon ready and all three of them headed for the airstrip where they boarded the private jet.

The jet landed at Princeville’s airport and the Angels walked to a car that was waiting for them. Both Jill and Kris exclaimed in amazement as they stared at the mile-long auto.

“It’s beautiful!” Kris cried. “Is it yours, Julie?”

“Yes. I have a few classic cars I’ve purchased over the years. I keep one on each island to use, depending on which island I’m on,” Julie replied as Jill and Kris walked around and admired a beautifully restored sky blue 1957 Lincoln Premiere Convertible.

“I’d like to see the rest of your collection, Julie, I admire your taste in cars!” Jill added as they climbed into the Lincoln and drove towards Princeville. Both visiting Angels remarked how beautiful and enchanting the island of Kauai was. Julie said that it was her favorite of all the islands and she loved to use its plush vegetation and flowered landscaping for photo shoots.

“Speaking of island escapades, I remember hearing about six months back from Charlie that you helped the Maui police with a huge drug sting. Sounds pretty exciting to me! Do you do that sort of thing often and do you enjoy it?” Kris inquired as they neared Princeville. Julie and Jill both laughed.

“Jeez, sis, this isn’t an interview!” Jill exclaimed, fake hitting Kris’ arm. “Give her a break!”

“Sorry, just a habit! I get so used to interviewing, I start talking to people in that style without even knowing it. However, your life would make an awesome story, Jules! I don’t suppose you’d consider a special interview with an old friend,” Kris suggested, laughing herself. Julie smiled.

“Absolutely not! In fact, what you know already I’d like you to keep to yourselves! If all the drug pushers and pimps started hearing about what we do, not only would my models be in serious danger, but our whole business would never be trusted again. Besides, only a select few of my models are trained in those types of situations. It’s not like every photo shoot we do has a ‘sting’ operation included in it. We only end up doing that sort of thing maybe two or three times a year, anyway.”

“I figured something like that. I was only half serious about the interview anyway,” Kris responded, smiling. They arrived at Princeville and checked into Julie’s business condominium to discuss their next move over Mai Tais.

“In an hour we’re meeting a very good friend of mine, a Lt. Tom Kokua. He’s a native of Kauai and is very devoted to ensuring its safety and tranquility. I’ve worked with Tom….Lt. Kokua several times in observing and spying on well known drug pushers or pimps at Pictures of Paradise photo shoots. He’s been after David Alston ever since the ‘sicko’ came to this island!” Julie stated as she sipped her Mai Tai. Jill and Kris sipped theirs as well and commented on how good they were.

“What was it Bosley used to say? A Mai Tai is like a wonderous fruit punch going down, then rips the soul out from inside!” Kris dramatically stated as Julie and Jill laughed.

“Bos loved Mai Tais, that’s for sure! I swear every restaurant we went to he’d order one,” Julie commented, still chuckling. “We’d better get moving, girls, or we’ll be late.” They left the condo and drove the Lincoln Convt. South along Kuhio Highway.

“So, where are we meeting this Lt. Kokua friend of yours?” Jill asked as they passed Papa ‘a Bay.

“We’re supposed to meet him near the cave at the Fern Grotto. Remember, it’s where Elliott and I were married and it’s one of the most popular wedding sites in the world.”

“Of course, I remember. It was beautiful from what I recall, very plush,” replied Kris.

“It’s still very beautiful but the hurricane in ’92 destroyed much of the dense vegetation. Most of what is there now is all new growth,” Julie informed them as they neared the Fern Grotto.

“It might have been destroyed but I’d say everything grew back extremely well!” Jill exclaimed as they passed and walked through tropical plants along the path, towards the cave. “It’s just as gorgeous as I remember it!” she stated again as they viewed the variety of ferns growing from all parts of the cave. Julie spotted Lt. Kokua and they headed over to him. Both Jill and Kris immediately noticed the rugged handsomeness of the Hawaiian native and they were having trouble guessing his age. Ugly he was NOT!

“Jules, kiddo, I haven’t seen you for a couple weeks! Where have you been?” Lt. Kokua boasted in joy as he took Julie’s hands, kissed them, and then hugged her. She laughed and hugged him back. Jill glanced at Kris and she glanced back, both were smiling as they realized that Julie and Tom’s relationship was possibly more than just professional.

“I’ve been around, on Maui and Molokai, lately. Noreen and I finally finished the photo shoots we needed for the Heavenly Hawaiian magazine and calendar account.”

“I’m sorry, babe, about your friend Bosley. You’ve spoken of him many times before. You know I’ll do whatever I can to help. Well, you two wild hibiscus flowers are definitely a beautiful edition to the island!” Lt. Kokua declared, referring to Kris and Jill. “Of course Jules is the prettiest flower of all the islands,” he stated, smiling at his own corny phrase. All four of them laughed. Julie seemed somewhat embarrassed and turned almost as red as her hair.

“Tom, stop! You’re embarrassing me! Lt. Kokua, this is Kris Atherton….better known on TV and to me as Kris Munroe and this is her older sister Jill Munroe. She, Kris, and I, as well as three other women, all worked for Charles Townsend. I’ve told you about all that before,” said Julie, motioning towards Kris and Jill.

“All good things, I’m sure,” Jill joked as Tom shook hands with her and Kris.

“Everything has been VERY good, seriously! Sometimes she won’t stop going on and on about working with you guys, Charlie, and Mr. Bosley! I’m actually kind of jealous, I want to work those kinds of cases with Julie too,” Tom teased back and they all laughed as Julie turned red again.

“Tom, will you please knock it off! You are so bad!” she cried as they all continued chuckling.

“It’s okay, Julie, don’t mind us. In fact, Jill and I will wait back at the Lincoln if you and Lt. Kokua want to use the Fern Grotto before we all leave. I’m sure with several other tourists around, you could find somebody to perform a quick ceremony,” Kris sarcastically stated as everyone burst out in hearty laughter.

“Oh, shut up! Could we please discuss our next move,” Julie replied as they still were laughing at the jokes passed around.

“Okay, Julie’s right. We came here to catch one of Bosley’s killers. We can party after David Alston is behind bars,” Jill replied, bringing them all back to the seriousness of the situation.

“David Alston is a psychotic sociopath….and a killer. But he’s a very intelligent psycho. We know he’s involved in drug trafficking, prostitution, and murder. We just haven’t been able to prove it or catch him at it. He’s well known for his wild exotic island parties, Hollywood connections, many lady friends, and even a few men friends. Alston’s known to be bisexual, male or female, he doesn’t care. If they’re willing to have sex then so is he,” Lt. Kokua informed them. “And, Kris, it’s Tom. Lt. Kokua is way too formal for friends of Jules.” They smiled and Kris nodded her head in understanding.

“Well,….Tom, it sounds like David Alston is a real ‘prince,’ where do we find him?” she asked.

“I’m not exactly sure. He moves around the islands constantly! No one’s ever sure where he’s at at one given time, unless he’s giving a party or making a ‘deal’ of some sort. And, then only certain people know where Alston’s at and he’s so well guarded that even President Bush might have trouble getting to him.”

“Sounds like someone else I know,” Julie joked, referring to Charlie. Everyone laughed and agreed.

However, he does have a favorite….right hand man, so-to-speak, when it comes to the sex parties and some of the drug deals,” Tom continued.

“Who is this….little ‘playmate’ of Alston’s?” asked Jill.

“A thirty year old Hawaiian native named Kono Kealoha,” Lt. Kokua replied, handing them a photo of Kono. “He loves to frequent Ke’e Beach, usually around this time of day when there aren’t as many tourists around. Be careful though, Kono usually has trained bodyguards around him at all times and he’s a perverted sociopath himself. Don’t underestimate him!”

“So, Tom, you think this Kono would know where Alston is?” Kris asked, wanting to make sure they weren’t wasting their time.

“Definitely! Kono and Alston are….well, very close. If anyone on Kauai would know where David Alston is, it’s Kono Kealoha,” Tom reassured her.

“I’ve heard of this Kono, he is definitely bad news! But, if he knows where Alston is, I’m game for giving him a little bit of ‘bad news’ back—Angel style!” Julie stated with a sly grin. Everyone laughed and Kris and Jill readily agreed. All three Angels had no trouble with the idea of going after anyone who even remotely had something to do or had knowledge about Bosley’s murder. Lt. Kokua, however, was not to keen with them going after Kono or Alston by themselves, especially Julie. They reassured him that it would be fine, they were armed and would be ready if something happened.

“If we need assistance, Tom, I’ll let you know. I promise! Now, we need to get to Ke’e Beach before Kono might leave,” Julie told him as they headed back to their cars. They all said their goodbyes and left.

“So, now the big question, which one of us gets to wear a bikini to try and taunt Kono with her beauty?” Julie joked as the old Lincoln headed back up the East coast of the island.
“A bikini! I don’t think so! I’ve had two kids! I still look good in a bathing suit, but a bikini? That might be stretching it a bit,” Jill emphatically stated, laughing.

“I’d do it, but I might be recognized. Kono and Alston are very well informed and I don’t want to risk blowing my other ‘operations,’ shall we say. I guess that leaves you, Kris,” Julie replied.

“Excuse me! I’ve had a child myself! I haven’t worn a bikini since about a year before Ryan was born! Why do I have to try and charm Mr Kealoha?” Kris exclaimed as Jill and Julie continued to laugh.

“Oh come on, sis! You look hot in a swim suit! So….don’t wear a bikini. Do you still have that sexy teal one-piece that Justin went nuts over last year?” asked Jill. Kris smiled and nodded her head.

“It’s back at the Princeville condo though. Do we still have time to stop and get it?”

“No problem, it’s on the way. Ke’e Beach is literally the end of the road. You can’t go any further. Well pop by the condo, Kris, and you can grab your swim suit and a towel,” Julie replied.

“I still don’t see why I have to be the one in a bathing suit!” Kris stated again as they neared Princeville.

“Because, that teal number ought to send Mr. Kealoha into a drooling fit for more! Once you mesmerize Kono with your….Angelic beauty, then Julie and I will be ready to pounce!”

“Oh please! This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I’ve done in a long time! But, if it means catching Bosley’s killers, then I’ll do it. Just tell me one thing….what do we do if today Kono has decided to admire a hot stud in a teal pair of Speedos instead?” Kris replied as they all laughed again. The plan was that Kris would pretend to be a tourist and try to attract Kono’s attention while Julie and Jill would take care of his bodyguards. “Just remember girls, I can’t hide a gun in my bathing suit, however I will keep mine in my swim bag, so just be ready in case.” After stopping at Princeville so Kris could put her swim suit on, they headed for Ke’e Beach.
“I wish we were going to this beach for leisure and fun. It’s one of the most beautiful, in my opinion, and my personal favorite,” Julie commented as they neared the end of the road—which literally was the beach.

Ke’e Beach was practically deserted, however they recognized Kono from the photo Tom had shown them. He was a very attractive Hawaiian, clad in nothing more than a dark purple pair of bikini style Speedos. His bodyguards were sitting a little ways behind him. They were fully dressed and all three Angels assumed they were armed, though no guns were visible. Suddenly, the Angels heard noise behind them and whirled around! There was Tom Kokua and a couple of Kauai uniformed officers.

“What are you doing here?” Julie cried!

“I couldn’t let you three do this alone, especially you, Jules! Just in case they try something, or if you find drugs on them, or whatever, we’ll still be able to assist and arrest them,” he replied. Kris went out onto the beach and Julie was right, it was the most beautiful beach she’d ever been on! She proceeded to lay out her towel and swim bag near where Kono was lounging. She put her sunglasses on and laid down. To her surprise, it was only about ten minutes before Kono Kealoha stood over her.

“Excuse me, I can’t help but notice a beautiful woman when I see one. I haven’t seen you around here before, are you visiting the island?” It wasn’t what he said but more the way he said it, for his snake-like charm made Kris’ skin crawl. How any woman would find it attractive was beyond her.

“Um….yeah, I’m vacationing here. I live in Los Angeles. Do you live here?” Kris asked, continuing the conversation.

“I was born here! As far as I’m concerned, there is no better or more beautiful place to live than Kauai. I also….have a very unique hobby,” Kono replied with a sick grin as he laid down beside her. Kris understood and she purposely took the bait.

“What hobby would that be?” she asked, giggling in a ditzy manner. Kono laughed back, unknowingly taking the bait himself.

“Well, it’s an interesting little hobby, anything or anybody of beauty and I just have to add them to my beautiful life here on Kauai. And….you are definitely a beautiful edition to the garden island! Would you be interested in coming to my estate and spending a few days there so we can explore your….beauty?” he propositioned, starting to lightly caress Kris’ leg. She noticed the bulge in Kono’s Speedos had gotten slightly larger and he leaned over and kissed her cheek. His touch repulsed her and Kris wanted to vomit and run! She glanced over and saw Jill and Julie not far behind Kono’s bodyguards. It was almost time!

One of Kono’s goons was a white heavy set, close to three hundred pounds heavy, guy with a full beard and bushy hair. The other was a shorter Chinese guy who had on a silk shirt and dress pants. As they got closer Julie and Jill could tell both were armed and were keeping a very close watch on their bizarre little boss.

“I’ll bet ‘Big Trouble In Little China’ over there is sweating bullets out here with that silk shirt on,” Jill whispered to Julie, giggling. Julie smiled and agreed.

“Okay, Jill, you take him and I’ll deal with….‘Grizzly Adams’,” she joked and Jill had to hold her mouth to keep from laughing.

“What are you going to do if he demands a kiss with all those whiskers?” Jill shot back and both had to struggle to stop from exploding in laughter. They then moved up behind their intended targets.

“Don’t move, don’t talk….don’t even breath and you morons might get to live through this,” Jill stated as she and Julie both put their guns to the bodyguard’s heads.

“Let’s see the hands, boys!” demanded Julie. Kris saw her cue to turn on Kono and reached into her swim bag for the Glock.

“Well, Mr. Kealoha, before we discover the garden island’s beauty, I think we need to discuss the whereabouts of a Mr. Alston first!” she announced to Kono as she put her Glock, flashing in the sunlight, to his crotch. Kono looked so shocked that Kris was afraid that he might pull a ‘Sly’ and flood his skimpy swim outfit. However, he remained dry for the time being.

“What the hell! What are you….who are…., Chang, Alphie! I need help now!” Kono screamed. He glanced back and saw that his help was suddenly very unhelpful. “Bitch! Who are you, what do you want?” he whimpered as he realized he was trapped.

“Shut up, you psychotic cry baby! I as the questions, you just answer truthfully and I possibly might decide to not explode….‘Johnson’ all over the beach!” Kris hissed at him as she continued to hold her gun at Kono’s crotch area. Alphie (aka ‘Grizzly Adams’) however, decided to make a move! He suddenly turned and kicked the gun out of Julie’s hand. He then lunged for the fallen Glock. Jill, however, was faster and as she used the butt of her Glock to whack Chang in the back of his head, knocking him unconscious, she aimed her gun right at Alphie!

“Don’t even think about it, Grizzly! I’ll cap your fat butt right here and now if I have to!” she screamed at him. By this time Lt. Kokua and the other officers had infiltrated the beach and rushed to assist Julie and Jill.

“Jules, are you okay?” Tom screamed as he took Julie in his arms, while the officers had their guns aimed At Alphie and Chang.

“I’m fine, just got my hand knocked around a little,” Julie replied, standing and holding her hand as Tom looked at it to see if it was broken. It wasn’t. Alphie, however, decided he wasn’t through yet. Despite the fact that the two Kauai officers and Jill still had their guns aimed at him, he lunged again for Julie’s gun still lying on the ground. He actually got a hold of it for a few seconds before Jill fired her Glock once hitting him in the right shoulder, causing him to immediately drop the gun and fall to the ground screaming and grabbing his injured shoulder!

“Okay, you sick little fart, your ‘muscle’s’ been taken care of and now it’s just you and me. You are going to tell me where David Alston is NOW!” Kris demanded as Kono looked like he might faint at any moment.

“Shut up, slut, I’m not tellin’ you nothin’! Besides, I have no idea where Davie is anyway. I haven’t seen him for a couple weeks now,” hissed Kono, seething with anger.

“Don’t lie to me, idiot! I know you know where he is! Me and my associates have an urgent matter to discuss with him. Now where is he?” Kris shouted!

“What kind of matter would a woman like you want to talk with Davie about? Unless you want to join his….fold, baby. You might be a little older than the usual sluts that want in on the action, but damn baby, you’re still hot!”

"You stupid piss ant! I’m not here to become one of Alston’s hookers! The less you know about why I’m here the better! I just need to know where he is, NOW! Otherwise I’ll help Kon-O become a Kon-A. Now spill it, ‘Konie’!” Kris spat at him, nudging the end of her Glock a little further into his private area. He let out a few high pitched yelps and gave in.

“Okay, okay, I’ll tell you! Just don’t shoot my dick off! You have to know that Davie will kill me once he knows I’ve told you where he’s at,” Kono whimpered, looking like he might cry.

“I might do the same if you don’t talk! Besides, Mr. Kealoha, by the time I’m finished with….‘Davie’ as you so intimately call him, he might not be in a position to do any harm to anyone! Hopefully, he’ll be on his way to prison. Now, no more crap! Where is David Alston?”

“He’s….he’s having a major ‘flake’ deal, if you know what I mean, near the Maninihole or Dry Cave.”

“Dry….cave?” Kris repeated, not sure what Kono was talking about, thinking maybe he was spouting gibberish just to get her to leave.

“I know what he’s talking about,” Julie replied behind them. By now she, Tom Kokua, Jill, and one of the uniformed officers had come down to see if Kris needed assistance. “There’s a wet cave and a dry cave not very far from here.”

"What about….‘Tinker Bell,’ here?” asked Kris in a sarcastic manner, getting up from her towel. An ambulance for Alphie and more police had also shown up.

"Tom, Jill, and I found a few packets of ‘coke’ and some marijuana cigarettes on Alphie and Chang. They were only too happy to start talking about who supplied them with their ‘candy.’ All of them get to take a trip with Kauai’s finest to a couple butt-ugly mint green colored interrogation rooms and eventually to a nice ‘cheery’ holding cell. Now we need to get to the dry cave to try and catch Alston. Let’s go!” Julie urged as they all ran for the Lincoln convertible. Tom Kokua and a couple other officers followed in Tom’s unmarked cruiser. As they headed just a little ways down the road, to where the wet and dry caves were, Kris seemed to have already decided what the plan was.

“When we get there, all of you can cover me and help with bodyguards if there are any. But….Alston’s mine!” Jill and Julie exchanged glances.

“Just remember, Kris, what Charlie said—“No revenge killing!” We’re to interrogate and help arrest only! Unless the psycho tries something, no shooting!” Jill reminded her. Kris returned her look with a ‘ticked off’ one of her own.

“Thank you, Jill, for informing me of Charlie’s rules! I think I can follow them without childish reminders!” she spat angrily towards her sister. “I’m not totally stupid! I have a seventeen-year-old son at home and I’m not going to prison by killing a psycho to get back at him, the psycho’s not worth it! I’m hopefully only going to have to scare the crap out of him for answers….but, make no mistakes, ladies, if the psycho DOES try something I will have no problem taking ‘em out! Okay?”

“We don’t think you’re stupid in any way, Kris, we just want the operation to go smoothly. We all want to blow away all the people responsible for Bosley’s death, but in order to hopefully get the identity of this crazy woman who’s behind Bosely’s murder to begin with, we need them alive if possible! However, if you want first dibbs at Alston, it’s fine by me,” Julie responded as Jill agreed and put her hand on Kris’ shoulder. Kris smiled, apologized for losing her emotion to them, and promised that she wouldn’t shoot David Alston unless absolutely necessary. By this time they’d reached the caves and they all made sure their Glocks were loaded and ready. Tom wasn’t too pleased about letting Kris start out alone but he could not persuade her otherwise. They all proceeded towards the dry cave.

Kris walked a little ahead of the others as they tried to find Alston among the other tourists exploring the cave. Suddenly, Jill saw him and a couple of other guys in a dark, empty corner of the cave. They were exchanging what looked like some sort of package, probably cocaine, heroine, or an illegal drug of some sort. She motioned to Kris, Julie, and Tom, who all had also noticed him. They waited a few minutes for the transaction to take place before the uniformed officers followed the suppliers back out of the cave. It was now up to Kris, Julie, and Jill to confront Alston, however, Tom demanded he would watch from a distance in case he needed to assist.

“Okay, I’m moving in on Alston now, watch my back!” Kris stated as she moved towards him. She looked around to make sure no one else was nearby as she pulled her Glock out of her swim bag again. “Hello, Davie, how ya’ doin?” she stated with a false smile as she put her gun to his chest. David Alston looked shocked and taken off guard. He made as if he might make a run for it.

“Ah ah ah, I don’t think so! You even breath, freak….and I’ll waste you right here!” Kris hissed, jamming the Glock further into his chest. Tell me what I want to know and I might decide to not make this dry cave a bloody cave! NOW TALK!” Alston was still so surprised that at first he could only stare and make a few grunts for replies. Three other guys, a ways behind Alston, saw what was happening and started for their guns. They didn’t get far.

“It’s over, guys, drop ‘em! Get your hands in the air, I want to see what you’re doing at all times….NOW!” Julie commanded as she, Jill, Lt. Kokua, and two police officers stopped Alston’s bodyguards.

“Who the hell are you people?” Alston stammered at Kris.

“I’m someone who needs a little information and no screwing around from you! Six years ago, in 1997, you supplied a man named Frank Averyt with an African poison to murder a man that worked for Charles Townsend. A man named John Bosley. Averyt was hired by a woman who wanted to obviously get revenge on Charlie….or all of us. I want the name of this woman, now!”

“How do you know….”

“Shut up!” Kris screeched, cutting him off immediately. “How I know doesn’t matter! Give me the name of the woman and I won’t shoot you, it’s a very simple concept.”

“It….it was a long time ago, I don’t remember names!” Alston blubbered, while trying to find the fastest means of an exit. Jill decided to come over and join Kris, to see if she was okay.

“Ya’ know, Jill, I think ‘Mr. Psycho Pervert’ here is trying to yank my chain! What do you think? I think I’ll waste ‘em right here and be done with it!” Alston’s face turned a shade whiter but he kept his cool.

“Look, lady, there’s no reason to loose control here! Maybe you could just put the gun down and we could….”

“Maybe you could just tell me who hired Averyt to murder my friend and I might decide to leave!” Kris screamed, cutting him off in mid-sentence again.

“I don’t know….he never told me! I just gave….”

“Don’t give me that load of crap! From what I’ve heard you worked…well shall we say very ‘close’ with Frank Averyt. I’m sure he must have told you the name - probably during pillow talk,” Kris spat back! Alston flushed with anger and his hands lunged for her throat! Kris, however, didn’t even flinch. With the butt of her Glock she ‘bopped’ Alston hard right into his nose, blood spurting out as he grabbed his nose and started screaming.

“Oh shut up and start talking! You might get to leave here in one piece!” Jill shouted. Alston continued holding his bleeding nose and whimpering like a lost child.

“I think….I think you broke my nose, you bitch!” he suddenly screeched.

“I’ll break more than that, moron, if you don’t tell me the name of the woman who hired your ‘buddy’ Averyt to murder my associate!” Kris screamed in return. Suddenly, David Alston shoved Jill and Kris over and ran for it! Everyone yelled at him to stop but instead he’d pulled a hidden gun from an ankle holder and fired twice! Everyone dived for cover as Alston made it out of the cave. He ran to a new dark purple Corvette and took off.

“Stop him! We’ve got to know the name of the woman and he may be the only one who can tell us,” Julie yelled as they all headed for their cars! Despite the fact that Alston was driving a ‘Vette, there wasn’t a whole lot of places he could go—after all they were on an island. He continued, at an insane rate of speed, South on Highway 56. Weaving in and out of traffic and all over the road, he drove the Corvette like a madman! Julie, however, was able to keep the classic Lincoln not far behind as the Angels and Tom Kokua and officers in their cars, gave chase.

After several miles, he suddenly made a right turn. “Where the hell is he going?” Jill cried as Julie screeched the Lincoln into the same turn.

“This road ends with….de plane, de plane!” Julie replied.

“Excuse me?” Kris responded as she and Jill looked at Julie like she was crazy.

“This road ends with Wailua Falls! Haven’t you guys ever watched “Fantasy Island?” cried Julie! Both Jill and Kris shook their heads yes but still stared at Julie as though she’d lost it. “Wailua Falls are a couple of tropical water falls. They were used at the beginning of every episode of “Fantasy Island” where the plane going to Mr. Rourke’s magical island passes over the beautiful falls and Tatoo announces—“De plane, de plane!” That’s where Alston is headed!” Julie shouted as they neared the falls.

“How close can he get to the falls? Are there trails or other roads leading out?” Kris asked as Wailua Falls came into view.

“No, I said the road ends at the falls. The moron’s trapped himself!” answered Julie as they all screeched to a halt.

“Unless there’s….de plane, de plane waiting for him,” Jill sarcastically threw in as they jumped from the Lincoln and chased Alston towards the guard rail at the edge of the falls. Tom Kokua and the other officers had shown up as well and joined the Angels as they looked for Alston.

“Where is he at? He couldn’t have gone too far!” Julie stated as they all continued to search for him. Other than a few tourists, no one was around. Lt. Kokua and the officers gathered the tourists together and asked them to leave. They told them that a wild boar had been spotted in the area and for their safety they preferred they leave, but could return later. This way they could get rid of bystanders and not alarm them too badly in the process. Once the people were gone, events suddenly became alarming!

Julie, gun drawn, was searching some trees near the edge of the falls when an arm suddenly wrapped around her neck and roughly yanked her along! David Alston drug her towards the edge while reciting threats in her ear. He had a gun to her head and forced her to drop her Glock.

“Julie! Oh my God, he’s got Julie!” Jill screamed as she saw Alston holding Julie at the edge of the falls.

“If you move one hair out of place on her, the only way you’ll leave here is in a body bag!” Lt. Kokua hissed at David.

“Shut up, you pig ass-wipe! You’re not in a position to give demands! Only I am! Now, all of you back up and lose the guns!” Alston shouted back.

“Okay, Alston, let’s all calm down and talk this thing out!” Kris suggested as adrenaline went into overdrive for everyone.

“Look, Davie boy, just let me go and let’s talk this over,” Julie coaxed, trying to persuade Alston into reason.

“I said shut up, slut! Don’t tell me what to do! I’ll throw your sexy little ass over the falls with no hesitation! It’s 80ft. to the water below and I don’t think that would be too helpful for your beautiful face, do you?” he screeched like a madman!

“David, we only want the name of the woman who hired Averyt, who in turn hired you, to help murder John Bosley. Give us the name and we’ll
see what kind of deal can be made for you,” Jill propositioned. Alston, however, would have none of it!

“There’s not going to any…‘deal!’ I’m not going to prison for any length of time, do you understand that?”

“Jules!” Lt. Kokua yelled in rage at the thought of not being able to help her.

“It’s okay, Tom! Don’t worry. David isn’t going to throw me over, are you?” she calmly directed towards Alston and Tom Kokua. “We’re only here to get information, David, not harm you! Who hired Frank Averyt?”

“I’m so sick of you asking me that! It was six years ago! It was some stupid bitch named Wellman, Lydia…Lisa…Lynn! Lynn Wellman, that was what Frankie called her!” All of the Angels stared at him in shock.

“You’re sure that’s the name? You’re positive it was Wellman?” Kris asked again, not sure if she’d heard him right.

“Yes, I’m sure! Don’t ask me again! Now, let’s figure out how I’m gonna get out of here!” screamed Alston in rage! “I said drop your guns!”

"Okay, calm down. We’ll drop our guns if you let Julie go,” Kris offered as she tried to bargain with him.

“Don’t try and play with my head, bitch! You don’t tell me what to do! I’ll drop this slut over the edge of the falls!”

“Alright, alright! We’re putting the guns down, okay? Just don’t hurt her!” Jill yelled as they all, especially Tom, cried out. However, Julie was able to get their attention. With her eyes and a few motions with her head, she let them know what her plan was. As Kris, Jill, Tom, and the other officers started to lower their guns, Julie suddenly slammed her heel down on Alston’s foot and then rammed that same heel into his crotch! He immediately let go of her and dropped to the ground, grabbing his groin area and squealing like a ‘stuck’ pig.

“Get your hands where I can see ‘em! You’re under arrest! Get your hands up NOW!” Lt. Kokua yelled as they all had their guns up again, aimed at him. Instead of obeying the orders Alston, in a fit of rage, grabbed for the gun he’d dropped when he’d gone to the ground. He flew back up with it, screeching in high pitched wheezes!

Kris fired her Glock once, hitting him straight in the middle of the chest. The force of the hit sent David Alston flying backwards and over the edge of Wailua Falls! They rushed to the edge and looked over in time to see Alston’s body slam into some rocks and finally hit the pool of water 80ft. below. Kris looked away in disgust and sorrow. Jill and Julie both led her away, back towards the cars.

“You had no choice, Kris. It was a righteous shoot,” Tom said and Kris nodded her head.

“I know. I’m not sorry, I just know that shooting Alston won’t bring Bosley back. However, right now I want to call Charlie, Kelly, and Sabrina! We need to let them know the name of this woman assassin and why we think she’s set all this up!”

“I’m on it!” Jill stated, getting her cell phone out and calling Charlie’s private number. To her surprise, he already knew. Kelly had just called and informed him that she, Bri, and Tiffany had also found out the name! They were flying back to L.A. the next day. Jill told Charlie that they too would be flying back the next morning.

“By the way, Jill, Andy called me earlier in a state of extreme excitement! He won’t go into detail until everybody is together, but he claims he’s found the connection with the crazy phrases left by this….Lynn Wellman.”

“Great, Charlie, if we can put everything together then maybe we can figure out a way to stop her,” Jill replied. They said their goodbyes and Jill walked back over to Kris and Julie to tell them the news. After filling out reports, answering questions, and the coroner’s van had left with Alston’s body, which had to be brought up from the bottom of the falls, the Angels went back to Julie’s Princeville condo to rest and clean up. That evening, Tom Kokua joined them at The Living Room, an elegant outdoor Princeville restaurant. For a couple hours they tried to relax and have a little fun.

CHAPTER 24: ANGELS AT THE PIER-“ABOVE THE SEA, BEYOND THE SHORE, BUT IN NEED OF A BOAT NO MORE!”

Early the next afternoon Sabrina, Kelly, and Tiffany flew from Boston to LAX. Julie was able to set it up that her private jet could fly her, Kris, and Jill from Princeville straight to LAX as well. Once at the office again more ecstatic reunions occurred with Tiffany and Julie and the other Angels that hadn’t seen whichever one yet. They were both happy to see Andy again as well, however, he was more interested in getting straight down to business.

“Okay, Andy, what have you found out about the messages?” Sabrina asked as they all sat down.

“While all of you were chasing psychos in alleys and over waterfalls, I was going through tons of old cases all of you solved. I finally hit pay-dirt and judging from the name of this lady assassin, it all fits!”

“What fits?” Julie persisted.

“Well, Aunt Julie, you may not exactly know about this because it was before you worked for Uncle Charlie. On March 21, 1979, Mom, Aunt Kelly, and Aunt Kris stopped a man named Lawrence Wellman from Killing Uncle Bos. Wellman blamed him for helping to supposedly wrongly imprison his brother Harrison. Harrison Wellman was convicted of killing his wife in 1971 and Uncle Bosley testified at the trial. By all the evidence and witness testimonies, including Uncle Bos’, Wellman was definitely guilty!”

“Andy, we remember! All of us figured this had something to do with that case when we heard the Wellman name,” Kelly replied as they all tried to eat an early lunch of sub sandwiches and coffee.

“But remember the challenge Uncle Bos gave you that day? Remember the clues he gave you to try and find him?” Andy exclaimed as he got out an old yellowed piece of paper from a dusty file folder.

“Oh my gosh, Bri, Kel, Bos’ clues! The crazy messages from the killer, they’re the clues from Bosley!” Kris cried, almost spilling her coffee.

“Exactly! This Lynn Wellman somehow got a hold of those clues and sent them to you. However, she purposely mixed them up, sort of twisted them around in a demented game to confuse you,” Andy stated as he finished his sandwich.

“I knew I’d heard those phrases before, I just couldn’t remember where! Probably because they weren’t in the right order!” cried Sabrina.

“So, what is the right order?” Tiffany asked. Andy held up the old piece of paper.

“The original order Uncle Bosley created was: “The ambiance is equestrian, the route is circular, and the mood is festive. Above the sea, beyond the shore, but….”

“In need of a boat no more!” Kris finished for Andy. “I haven’t thought about those silly sayings in years!”

“So where did his clues lead you?” Julie asked. “I mean, I remember hearing about this case from Bosley himself once but I don’t remember where you ended up at?”

“The pier,” Sabrina replied.

“The Pier? What pier?” Tiffany exclaimed in anticipation.

“The Santa Monica Pier! Of course!” cried Kelly as Kris nodded her head in agreement.

“I did some checking on this Lynn Wellman,” Charlie suddenly boomed from the speaker box, as he had been letting everyone talk without interruption from him as he listened to the results of the case. “She is Lawrence Wellman’s daughter and it would seem that she now wants revenge on all of us involved with the capture of her father. I’ve also spoken to Ellen Miles, who we all remember was Lawrence and Harrison’s sister, which means she’s Lynn’s aunt. She was who helped entice Bosley into thinking she was interested in him and then tried to trap him. But, as we also remember, at the end she changed her mind and believed Bosley.”

“Where is she now? Does she still live around here?” asked Kelly.

“No. She lives in Wichita, Kansas now. She never actually did prison time since she testified at her brother’s trial for the attempted murder of Bosley. Miss Miles wasn’t exactly happy to hear from me. She’d prefer to try and forget those events. She did say to tell all of you how horribly sorry she is that this is happening! She realized that day, back in ’79, that Bosley was a good and honest man and that he didn’t lie at Harrison’s trial in ’71. However, she has not heard from or seen her niece Lynn in over seventeen years. I believe her,” Charlie replied.

“So, is Lynn Wellman telling us to go to the Santa Monica Pier right now or are we to wait for some stupid note again, or what? What’s our next move?” Kris spat in frustration!

“I think that checking out the pier would be a good starting point,” Charlie replied. His words were hardly emitted out of the speaker box when suddenly the left door of the office double doors rattled so hard that it seemed it might splinter out of its frame! The slam silenced everyone and Julie and Kelly inhaled sharply with surprise. Andy walked over and opened the door, his yell of shock making everyone jump again.

“Aaahhh, man, what the hell is this?” he cried, jumping back. Everyone ran to the door and gazed upon the demented sight! Nailed into the door was an old mannequin with a tattered angel’s costume on, like something used in an old church play—wings and all. The crudely made halo, attached to the head, looked as if it was made from some old gold Christmas tinsel. The nail was pounded in around the heart area and fake blood formed around it. In one of the ‘angel mannequin’s’ hands was a thick piece of paper with the fake blood spattered all over it. Tiffany took it and read it out loud.

“Okay, Angels, still trying to figure out who and where I am? I have left you enough clues that I’m assuming you all have figured it out by now. Let’s meet and discuss the matter further! Let’s start by candying a few apples, see you there!” As soon as she finished reading, Tiffany handed the note to Sabrina and then she and Andy immediately searched the rest of the building, but of course found basically nothing. Tiffany did discover that the intruder had entered through an old small side window, which had been pried open.

“Okay, I’m sick of this….psycho game crap! We’re takin’ this witch down, and NOW! Shall we head to the pier?” Kris stated in anger. Everyone stood up to go.

“Wait a minute, Angels! This is obviously a trap of some sort. We have no idea what Lynn Wellman has planned, but it’s most likely meant for Sabrina, Kelly, and Kris! Now, she probably knows that Andy, Jill, Tiffany, and Julie have all helped and have been involved. She will assume that all of you will show up at the pier together. I think you should split up,” Charlie suggested.

“I agree! We should probably take all the cars but Kris, Kelly, and I should take one car and go to the candy apple stand, where Lynn obviously wants us to go first. Maybe Julie, Tiff, Jill, and Andy could split up and take the other cars. They could try to follow and watch from a safe distance.”

“That’s probably your best move for now, Sabrina. I do not like this, Angel, because we’re going into this blind! But, we have no choice for now. I want everyone armed and ready….I also want Kelly, Kris, and you, Sabrina, to wear bullet proof vests. They’re light and can fit under most shirts or blouses. I also had them lined with a thin wall of fake blood,” as he directed them where to find the vests in the office.

“I’d have vests for all of you but I could only get Chief Crawford to spare three. I had another friend of mine, that works in a special effects dept. in television and movies, to line them with the fake blood.”

“That’s okay, Charlie, we’ll take what we can get!” said Kris. Charlie begged them to be careful and to try and keep in constant contact.

“One more thing, Angels, I think that Sabrina, Kelly, and Kris should take one of the cars to meet Lynn Wellman. However, the rest of you and Andy don’t have to split up into several others. In the fourth garage stall is a new black Cadillac Escalade. Take that and try to follow, watch, and help if needed.” Kelly, Kris, and Sabrina took the Cobra, with Kris driving. The others took the Escalade, following at a distance.

Once they reached the Santa Monica Pier, they split up. However, the group in the Escalade tried to follow as close as possible while trying to not be noticeable. At the candy apple stand they were given a note, which told them to go below the pier….below, where twenty-four years earlier they had saved Bosley’s life.

“We all know that’s where we ended up saving Bosley at, when Lawrence Wellman tried to shoot him. This could get dangerous very quickly! Under the pier is away from the people, rides, and food stands. This is probably the trap and where she’ll try to kill us,” Kelly stated.

“She’s right, let’s watch ourselves. We have the vests on but if Lynn….or accomplices she might have helping her, aim for our heads, we’re still open targets,” Kris added as they walked towards the stairs that led down to the beach and under the pier.

“Let’s just try to play it cool and try to observe everyone and everything going on around us. Hopefully Jill, Tiffany, Julie, and Andy are watching too. I just hope Andy doesn’t get in the middle of any gunfire,” Sabrina stated as they walked onto the beach, which was fairly empty. They were about halfway towards the under part of the pier when suddenly a shot rang out from above! It hit Kelly in the chest, sending her flying back and slamming to the ground!

“Kelly! Oh my God, Kelly!” Kris screamed as she and Sabrina ran over to her, blood oozing out all over her chest area. However, both she and Sabrina saw that she was still breathing. Kris was kneeling over her when suddenly Kelly, very slowly, moved her hand over and slightly tugged at her ankle.

“Keep going! She thinks I’m dead! Plus….it’ll take a few minutes to get my breath back. Bullet proof vest or not, that damn shot knocked the wind out of me!” Kelly whispered hoarsely, without moving. Sabrina and Kris ran for underneath the pier, and as they did, two more shots rang out—both barely missing them! The underside of the Santa Monica Pier had changed little in the twenty-four years since the Angels had last been there, saving the life of their friend. Kris and Sabrina hid behind two of the old wooden poles and waited. Suddenly a voice behind them sent adrenaline exploding throughout their bodies and they whirled around!

“Hello….Angels!” the voice leered sarcastically. “Are you still wondering who I am and why you’re here? I hope you enjoyed yourselves in Massachusetts and Hawaii! I was glad that you helped tie up some loose ends for me, saved me a lot of trouble!” A very beautiful woman with dark auburn hair, dark sunglasses, and a Glock of her own, stood aiming it at Sabrina and Kris. “Just call me ‘Master,’ right? One down and two to go, huh!”

“I think we all know why we’re here….Lynn,” Sabrina replied. The woman eyed Sabrina coolly.

“So….you know who I am! Good! That makes the point of explaining myself unnecessary!

“We know who you are! Six years ago you killed our friend and now you want to try and do the same to us. I think that pretty much covers it….psycho!” Kris spat in return.

“That doesn’t even come close to covering it! Your so-called friend killed my uncle, brainwashed my aunt, and to top it all off, the bastard killed my father!” Lynn screeched, suddenly aiming her gun straight at Kris! “And I made him pay for it!” she then added with a demented smile. Rage exploded throughout Kris and she desperately wanted to go for her Glock, but she felt it was more important to make sure Bri would be okay instead.

“Lynn, Bosley didn’t kill your uncle! He just testified at his trial on the evidence he had. A jury convicted Harrison Wellman, and his bad heart is what killed him! As for your aunt, she wasn’t brainwashed. Ellen Miles spent only a day with Bosley and ended up believing him! I am the one that shot your father, Lynn! John Bosley didn’t do that! Lawrence Wellman tried to kill me, it was either him or me,” exclaimed Sabrina, trying to maybe talk some sense into a madwoman, but expecting no success….and got none!

“Shut up! I don’t care what excuses you spew out, it doesn’t matter! My father went to prison after you wounded him and he was convicted of the attempted murder of your idiot friend. He was only there three years and he couldn’t stand it! He hung himself for what you did to our family! The four of you destroyed us! I swore that one day I’d get revenge on all of you and I decided to start at the beginning….with John Bosley!” Sabrina and Kris fought back tears and the urge to pull out their guns and take her down right there!

“You had John Bosley poisoned six years ago. Why did you wait so long to come after us?” Kris asked, suddenly noticing Jill and Tiffany quietly positioning themselves behind wooden poles, behind Lynn! She hoped that Julie and Andy were also nearby.

“I wanted to kill all four of you, one right after the other! Unfortunately, I had some other….‘business’ dealings that the FBI started to find too interesting too quickly. I left the country and for five years I lived in Italy. There was not one day that went by that I didn’t think about killing all of you! A year ago I returned and I immediately began trying to put my plan in motion. However, I had to wait for certain people to get out of prison to complete it. I researched into several of your old cases and decided on ones where the criminals were getting ready to be released. They were only too happy to help take revenge on you! But, now comes the real revenge…. ironically, at the exact same spot where it all began!”

“You have to know that you will never get away with this! Too many other people know as well,” Sabrina stated, trying to stall for time.

“Oh, yes, your friends and idiot son. I assume they are around here somewhere. Well, let it be known that there is a professional assassin with a high powered rifle and laser scope bearing down on us. If any of your friends or your son try something, he has instructions to take them down, one by one!” Lynn yelled loudly, as if she knew that the other Angels and Andy were close.

“I’ve learned that you never assume anything, Miss Wellman! If you do, you usually end up getting burned!” Julie shouted in response as she and Tiffany stepped out from behind the poles, their guns drawn on a man with his hands in the air, and a nasty scowl of anger on his face.

“We spotted this sack of garbage up on the boardwalk, off in a distant corner with a rifle aimed down towards the beach. Thought he might want to join the party! It’s over, Lynn, give it up!” Jill demanded as she and Andy stepped out from two other poles beside Tiffany and Julie. Now, except for two guns aimed at the hired gunman, all 9mm Glocks were aimed at Lynn! An unbelievable look of hatred and anger passed over her face as she began screaming in an uncontrollable rage.

“Drop the gun now!” Sabrina yelled. Instead, Lynn took her Glock and immediately shot her in the stomach!

“Mom!” Andy screamed as blood spurted from the gaping hole, turning Sabrina’s stomach area and the sand around her a sickening deep red. He rushed forward towards his mother, forgetting for a few seconds that she was wearing a vest. Kris tried to stop him but it was too late. Lynn Wellman suddenly had her gun up against and aimed at Andy’s chest!

“Okay, you freaking whores, lose the guns or ‘Little Boy Blue’ here, gets it! I mean it, drop the guns or I’ll make a hell of a lot more red sand before the afternoon’s out!”

“Alright, alright, calm down! We’ll drop the guns, just don’t hurt him!” Tiffany cried, starting to lower her gun and desperately trying to think of a way to fake Lynn out and get Andy out of her aim.

“Put it down now, Lynn! Your sick game is over!” Kelly suddenly shouted from behind Lynn and Andy. Lynn whirled around in shock and it was enough for Andy to jump back away from her gun. Sabrina also stood up, fake blood smeared all over the front of her.

“It’s done, you’re under arrest for more charges than I can possibly think of!” she stated, aiming her gun at Lynn as well.

“Wha….wha….what the hell is going on? I….I shot you! I shot both of you! I killed you!” she shrieked in rage and confusion.

“You only thought you did,” Kelly remarked, pulling her bloodied shirt open, revealing the bullet proof vest. By now several uniformed policemen and homicide detectives, including Sgt. Bruce and Eckley, showed up. They took a hold of Lynn Wellman and pulled her arms back to handcuff her. She psychotically glared at everyone in hatred and disbelief.

“I’ll get you! I’ll kill you all! Stupid freaks!” she screamed, almost incoherently.

“I don’t think so, Lynn. You killed a very important part of our family and then tried to kill the rest of us! I want you to know that all of us will do everything in our power to see that you get the death penalty….or rot in prison for the rest of your life!” Jill shot back in anger. Suddenly, Lynn kicked one of the officers handcuffing her and elbowed the other one in the chest! As they struggled to try and regain control over the situation, she grabbed one of their guns, aimed it towards Kelly’s head, all the while screeching like a wild banshee!

The load explosion of two shots, one right after the other, echoed throughout the under side of the pier, as Lynn Wellman fell to the ground, dead almost immediately! For a few seconds Kelly assumed she had been shot by Lynn and in automatic reaction grabbed for her head before she realized….she was okay! Kelly looked over and both Kris and Julie had their Glocks still aimed at where Lynn had been standing! All the Angels and Andy were in tears and hugged.

“Thank you, thank you so much! You all are the best friends I’ve ever had and I love you all so much!” Kelly cried through tears as she and everyone hugged, and she especially hugged Kris and Julie. They had been the ones who’d shot Lynn at the same time, saving her life.

“I don’t know about the rest of you guys but I’ve had enough of this damn pier for a long long time!” Sabrina stated through tears and a smile. Everyone laughed and agreed.

CHAPTER 25: ANGELS REMEMBER-“BOSLEY FOR REMEMBRANCE!”

The next day, after the deadly encounter at the Santa Monica Pier, the Angels and Andy got out of bed after a sleepless night. After coffee and beagles, they all piled into the Escalade and drove out to the cemetery where Bosley was buried. After Charlie had had the medical examiner exhume John’s body to test for exotic poisons, he’d then had Bosley reburied. Everyone had gotten huge sprays of roses and other kinds of flowers. They each covered the newly turned earth with the colorful and fragrant displays. Once again, everyone had tears as Kris and Kelly kneeled in front of the headstone. Kris spoke while tracing Bosley’s name and date of birth with her finger, tears flowing down her face.

“Hey, big guy, we’re all here! I’m so sorry that we didn’t know! We got ‘em though, buddy, we got ‘em! You can rest in peace now. Rest in
peace, sweet sweet man!” While Kris was speaking, Jill happened to glance back and noticed a black Jaguar. She nudged the others and they all turned. A hand suddenly appeared as the darkened window lowered a little ways. It waved at them and gave them a thumbs-up sign, as the Jag began driving away - Charlie! Later that afternoon, back at the office, he called.

“A job more than well done, Angels! I’m so glad and relieved that we were able to figure out who was behind this and stop them! Bosley can finally rest in peace! All of you can finally go on without the fear of looking over your shoulder, too!” Everyone agreed. Before departing for their destinations, they all vowed that they would get together for Christmas.

That Christmas of 2003, all of them and their families, or significant others, went to Hawaii for the holiday. They all stayed at Julie’s estate and everyone: Kelly and Alan along with Greg and Hollie, Kris along with Ryan and Justin Morgan, Sabrina and Andy along with Graham Carson (who Sabrina did end up dating after returning to Phoenix), Jill along with Sherridan and Sawyer, Tiffany and Paul along with Todd and Tyler, and Julie along with Lt. Tom Kokua all celebrated Christmas on Julie’s private beach.

It felt wonderful to have everyone together again and they all decided to make a habit of getting together several times a year. Charlie called on the speaker phone and joined in on the celebration. Tom Kokua got out a Bible and read the birth of Christ, the true reason for celebrating Christmas, before they began their Hawaiian feast and their own private luau - complete with tons of food, music (Christmas songs Hawaiian style), and hula dancing. They all raised their glasses of wine in a loving toast to everyone’s happiness, success, but most of all - to Bosley and the love, memories, and cases shared with him.

“May we always remember the guidance, care, and love he gave all of us! He was a wonderful person and a true man!” Kris stated.

“Here, here!” everyone answered as they clinked glasses together and drank - Charlie over the phone of course! They all ate, drank, swam, surfed, and exchanged gifts for the rest of the day.
