Racing Tip #1:
| When starting the race, don't floor it. Stomping on the gas causes your rear tires to lose traction and gives your opponent an advantage. Instead, hold your RPMs at about 50% of maximum for the car you're driving. This will result in a much better acceleration out of the gate.
Racing Tip #2:
| Lay off the gas going into a turn (or apply brakes) and then accelerate through the turn. Your car will come out of the turn at a much higher speed and you'll maintain better control of the car.
Racing Tip #3:
| Use a joystick. The joystick is calibrated for finer control of the car than a keyboard or gamepad. You'll find your car is more responsive and performs better.
Racing Tip #4:
| Use manual braking as opposed to hand braking. Using the hand brake can cause the rear end to fishtail, or cause the car to spin out altogether.
Racing Tip #5:
| If your display is pausing or choppy, turn off visual effects in the Options Menu. A smooth framerate is essential to driving an accurate speed line and eliminating over-correction errors.
Racing Tip #6:
| Each car has a power band - a range of RPMs that maximize torque and horsepower. Find your car's power band and try to keep your gear changes in that range.
Racing Tip #7:
| Take advantage of wide corners and shoulders by cutting them where you can. If you do this wisely, you can make up time on the AI cars, because they do not cut the corners.
Racing Tip #8:
| You don't need shortcuts to win the game. In some cases, you might want to avoid using some shortcuts. You may find yourself experiencing difficulty navigating them and they will slow you down as a result.
Racing Tip #9:
| Take the inside lane on the AI cars in turns, with your car between them and the corner. This way if you slide out of a turn, you take your opponent with you by sliding into them. Sometimes sliding into your opponents will get you knocked back on course.
