Bacolod City - Famous national musician Joey Ayala. whose musical masterpieces like "Magka-ugnay" , "Karaniwang Tao", "Agila", "Bathala", and others will be coming to Bacolod on June 22 for a one night free gig entitled "Mt.Kanlaon Luwason upod kay Joey Ayala". This activity is organized by Green Alert Negros and the Save Mt. Kanlaon Coalition.

"Joey Ayala is one of the few Filipino arits who can translate the message of environmental protection and social activism clearly. His music has inspired generations from different parts of the country to act on social and environmental issues." Green Alert said.

Green Alert Negros and the Save Mt. Kanlaon Coalition have been opposing the entry of the geothermal project of Philippine National Oil Company-EDC inside the buffer zone of Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park. The project was recently endorsed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province, the Provincial Government, DENR, DOE and PAMB.

Green Alert recently held a Protest Climb as a sign of indignation and condemnation to the decision of the SP and to the supporters of the project like Governor Isidro Zayco, DENR and DOE. The said protest climb was joined by 35 mountaineers and defied the government by entering Mt. Kanlaon without any permits.

Green Alert also gave a "Memorandum of Annihilation" recently to Governor Isidro Zayco, Vice Governor Yulo and the rest of the SPs as their interpretation of the Memorandum of Agreement that the SP is currently crafting between the Provincial Government and PNOC-EDC.

"We believe that with the presence of Joey Ayala, we can further educate Negrenses on the importance of our natural resources that is already in a critical state. We are inviting all the Negrenses to join us in saving Mt. Kanlaon with Joey Ayala". Green Alert added.
