The San Saba Police Department consists of 4 full time officers and 3 reserve officers. Ray Riggs, Chief of Police, has been Chief for 22 years in San Saba. Dwayne Shaw, Patrol Officer/Arson Investigator has been an officer for San Saba for nearly 12 years. Allen Brown, Patrol Officer/Narcotics Investigator, has been with the San Saba Police Department for 6 years and Kevin Barclift has been with the San Saba Police Department on and off for approximately 15 years, Kevin is also a Fireman for the City of Brownwood Fire Department. Our 3 reserves have some extensive background as well. Mike Stafford is also a Firemen for the City of Arlington Fire Department and also an EMT as well as an Arson Investigator. Wymond Kraft is a Fireman for DFW International Airport and also a Paramedic for Llano County EMS as well as a Arson Investigator and has been trained as a Tactical SWAT Medic. Zane McGehee, a native of San Saba just like Ray and Dwayne is a Park Ranger for the Colorado Bend State Park.
If your thinking that just because San Saba is a small rural town that not much goes on here, well your mistakened. Don't get us wrong, its not a bad town at all. But we have our share of crime and drama here just as the BIG CITIES do, just on a smaller scale. We deal in everything from Burglaries, to Domestic Disputes, Murder, Arson, Sex Crimes, and DRUGS!! Between Drugs and Domestic Abuse these keep the officers very busy.
