Our Scout House
By
Mr. Lynley Lutchmedial

Phase III:Construction of Bathroom and Water Facilities. A decision was taken to write Self Help requesting assistance to complete Our Scout House. I prepared a budget, and plans to the Self Help Commission for Phase II and Phase III for twenty four thousand dollars ($24,000.00 TTD) We were fortunate that the then President of San Fernando District Scout Council and the Mayor of San Fernando, Mrs. Hazel Rogers Dick assisted in speeding up the process with the "Self Help." After one year of trying, the group was able to obtain $18,000.00 form the Selp Help Commission.

Phase IV, started with Anthony Spears as Group Scout Leader as I was appointed District Comissioner. Many venture scouts graduated into leadership roles. Byer, Belgrove, Kirk. Ahee, Mitchell, Terrance, David and Orvid carried out this phase with the parent committee. Selp Help's $18,000.00 was not cash but the equivalent value of marterials from Gopaul's Hardware. Due to constant break in, a seperate concrete structure (concrete roof) for the bathroom and toilet facilites was built. This time , the Parent Committee under Mr. Mikey Joseph did most of the work. This project has now been completed.

Phase IV: - Refurbishing the entire structure to accomodate
- A Conference room (proper meeting place)
- Cub Room
- Scout Room
- Venture Scout Room
- Band Room
- Kitchen
- Equipment / Store Room

Editor's Note : This was another great achievement in the history of Notre Dame, and it was achieved by the hard work of all scouts, leaders, past scouts and parents, and this group must recognize the efforts of each. There would always be discussion about names left out but the names singled ote were the Outstanding members who gave invaluable service to this project and have earn a place in the annals of NDSS. Many others have helped and the group is proud of your efforts, and so to all those names that were not mentioned, the group sincerely acknowledges your contribution to the growth of NDSS.
