News Archive - November/December, 2003

November 1, 2003 - Full Metal Jacket - Second ViewingI mainly watched it for the first part, but now I've grown to appreciate the second part more. Awesome movie overall.
November 3, 2003 - Donnie Darko - Third ViewingI now own this movie, and I watched a commentary with many of the actors on it. It's even better each time, because you see something you hadn't seen before. Maybe someday I'll get around to writing a review for it.

November 4, 2003 - Mulholland Drive - Second Viewing - I need to rewrite my review for this great movie. I, of course, just bought it, and I understand a lot about it. Great movie.

November 6, 2003 - Airplane 2: The Sequel - Repeat Viewing - I don't know how many times I've seen both this one and the original, but they are still hilrious. Whenever I just feel like watching something I've already seen, I just pop one of these two into my VCR.

November 7, 2003 - Airplane! - Repeat Viewing - Yet again I watch this movie, and yet again I love it. I will never get sick of it.
The Whole Nine Yards - Fourth Viewing - Could it be? Yes, I think I am ready to say this now: after seeing this movie four times, I believe Matthew Perry to be a good actor.

November 8, 2003 - Intolerable Cruelty - 7/10

November 12, 2003 - A Decade Under the Influence - 7/10

November 14, 2003 - Trapped - 3/10

November 16, 2003 - Don't Say a Word - 6/10

November 18, 2003 - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - Second ViewingI saw this at my Film Club at my school, and everyone else loved it. I'm glad the classics can live on.

November 23, 2003 - The Straight Story - 10/10

November 26, 2003 - Shattered Glass - 6/10

November 28, 2003 - Bad Santa - 6/10
The Station Agent - 7.5/10
Finding Nemo - Second Viewing - The trouble with younger cousins is that they can only watch a select few movies. I noticed this time through how much they took material from other movies and made us think they were "homages" when in fact they just took them right from the movie.

November 29, 2003 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Third Viewing - I realize now how unoriginal these are, and also how obvious many of the special effects are. Even The Birds had better backlighting!
Pulp Fiction - 9/10

November 30, 2003 - GoodFellas - 7/10

December 4, 2003 - Dog Day Afternoon - 7/10

December 5, 2003 -
The Royal Tenenbaums - Repeat Viewing - I still find this movie amazing. Everything about it is, but mainly its visuals, which I looked for this time. It's so surreal it's hard to imagine, but it was actually done.

December 6, 2003 - Yellow Submarine - 8/10
The Station Agent - Second Viewing - It was either this, seeing half of Mystic River, or walking around in the snow.

December 7, 2003 - Raiders of the Lost Ark - 8/10

December 12, 2003 - Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - Repeat Viewing - I don't know how many times I've seen this movie now, it's just hilarious; I could watch it over and over and never get tired of it or not laugh.
Vacation - Repeat Viewing - THIS is a classic, plain and simple.

December 13, 2003 - My Fellow Americans - Repeat Viewing - This should become a classic, mixing policial humor, dirty humor, and suspense.
Witness - 6/10

December 17, 2003 - Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure - Repeat Viewing - Although it doesn't stay funny on multiple viewings, it is very entertaining and breezy, Keanu puts in a great performance.

December 18, 2003 - Final Destination - 8/10
Meet Wally Sparks - 5/10

December 19, 2003 - A Fish Called Wanda - Third Viewing - I guess this will have a special place in my heart now, because it's the first movie I watched on my new portable DVD player.

December 20, 2003 - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - 8/10

December 23, 2003 - Stuck on You - 4/10

December 25, 2003 - A Christmas Story - 7/10

December 26, 2003 - Paycheck - 7/10

December 27, 2003 - The Producers - Repeat Viewing - I still find new parts of this movie to laugh at, since there's so much it's hard to catch everything.

December 28, 2003 - Mulholland Drive - Third Viewing - What a great movie. Over a year after I first saw it and I'm still debating it. Everything about it is great.

Pulp Fiction - Second Viewing - A very entertaining movie, but I can't say any more than what I've already said.

December 29, 2003 - It's Pat - 7/10
Something's Gotta Give - 6/10

December 31, 2003 - House of Sand and Fog - 10/10 1
