September 09, 2000 - SILVER JUBILEE
Producer Gordhan Tanwani's Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, directed by David Dhawan, has entered combined 25th week at Naaz (matinee), Bombay.

March 29, 2000 - BOX OFFICE UPDATE
David Dhawan's Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge is having a ball in England. The Salman Khan-Karisma Kapoor movie grossed about $ 170,000 on 21 screens in England last weekend. Its $ 8,000 per screen gross was the highest in the country. Its success in England has lifted the box-office gloom there. The last hit in England, Rajshri's Hum Saath Saath... ended its run with over $ 1 million a few months ago. If Dulhan maintains its current pace, it could have a profitable run, ending with at least $ 500,000.
And if its success is mirrored in America, it could earn about $1 million. In the United States, figures for the three-day weekend were not available but the market buzz has it that Dulhan is shaping into an above-average success. The desi market scene in America has been dull for several weeks. Dulhan could lift the box-office clouds.

March 13, 2000 - WATCH OUT FOR...
It's a David Dhawan dhamaka, starring Salman Khan and Karisma. End result? A laugh riot! Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge is not a remake of the Hollywood hit Runaway Bride in the absolute sense of the word 'remake'. It's, instead, in essense a very distinct David Dhawan kinda film with the right mix of romance, drama and comedy.
As the story goes, it's about Karisma's absolutely vehement and confirmed "no-no" to the prospective groom her protective and possessive mamas (Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal and Om Puri) want to thrust down her delicate sensibilities and life. Somewhere along the way trudges the sexy and suave Salman who holds Karisma's rapt attention and makes way into her cozy heart. And then, as the title suggests, after much song-n-dance (literally and figuratively) Sallu darling takes away his dulhan, Karisma. Adding lighter moments to the mamas' madness are classic comedians Johny Lever and Kader Khan.
Now, what's going to probably work in David's favour in this film is his choice of Anupam, Paresh and Om as the possessive mamas. Their class act will most certainly lend the much-needed curiousity and flavour to the by-now popular and delectable pairing of Salman and Karisma. The inclusion of Himesh Reshmmiya as the music director is bound to lend freshness to the tralalalala aspect too. What might just not work (there's a slim possibility) in the favour of the film is its price. A huge and hefty Rs 3 crores per territory, the highest received by any producer so far for a Salman Khan-starrer. However, if producer Gordhan Tanwani's luck is shining bright, the film might bring in favourable tidings, the price notwithstanding. 'Wait and watch' is the mantra till its release later this month.

March 08, 2000 - HIT HO JAYE
Gordhan Tanwani, producer of the former, is giving film promotion a new meaning with his Salman-Karisma starrer. He spent a fortune on the pre and post-release publicities of both his earlier films, Ishq and Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, and consequently reaped rich harvests. He s doing it all over again. Will he be third time lucky? The scales seem to be tilted in his favour due to several reasons. For one, the lead pair is a favourite of the audience. Two, lucky David Dhawan is the captain of the ship. And three, there hasn t been a good release after Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai which will be 10 weeks old by the time Dulhan... makes a bid for the public s heart.

March 04, 2000 - NOT 'Runaway Bride'
David Dhawan's Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge: Contrary to popular belief, this Salman Khan-Karisma Kapoor musical is not a Hindi version of the Julia Roberts starrer, Runaway Bride, but an imitation of a film closer home. The story of a young man who must win the affection of his beloved's four uncles before he can walk her down the aisle, here's an all-new remake of Ek Phool Chaar Kaante.

February 28, 2000 - Streak of Hits
If anyone has seen glimpses of the trailors for "Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge", it looks like the team of David Dhawan, Salman Khan, and Karisma Kapoor have a hit on their hands. Undoubtedly, Salman Khan is a force to reckon with when it comes to the box office. The majority of his films do good business and he does tend to have a hit or two each year. The promotional trailers of the movie are chic! The songs are gaining in popularity and though they may not be musical masterpieces, they are so mass-appealing that they'll be inching their way up the music charts soon and fast.

February 12, 2000 - Music Released In Hyderabad
Tips Cassettes released the audio cassettes of producer GordhanTanwani's Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge at a function held at Sangeet Sagar, Secunderabad on 11th February. Nizarn distributors Kishenchand Jethwani (Vandana Films) and Chandru Manghnani (Evershine Film Distributors) and Dinesh Gupta (of Sangeet-Sagar) were among the guests who graced the occasion.

February 12, 2000 - Do you know?
Bombay distributor Ramesh Sippy has acquired Gordhan Tanwani's Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge for Gujarat at a phenomenal price. In turn, he is getting fantastic offers from exhibitors of Gujarat. Gordhan Tanwani's past track-record (Ishq, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha) coupled with his lavish spending on publicity has made his third venture so hot in distribution circles. Besides, there will be no major release for a whole month before Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge comes on 24th March. That is to say, the audience will be hungry for entertainment when Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge hits the screens a scenario which producers, distributors and exhibitors love.

February 4, 2000 - Creating Waves
After Aamir Khan's 'Mela' and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani', it time for the third of the three big Khans to line up his arsenal. And Salman Khan is just rearing to flex his well toned muscles once again with Gordhan Tanwani's 'Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge'. For Gordhan Tanwani, whose 'Ishq' and 'Pyar To Hona Hi Tha' did well at the turnstiles, this will be his third hit if it does well. And if one goes by the trade sentiments, this doesn't seem far fetched at all. Directed by David Dhawan, the film also stars the heroine No.1, Karisma Kapoor. Mounted on an enormous canvas and shot on unexplored locales of Switzerland and Mauritius, the film is said to have all the ingredients necessary, namely, emotion, action, drama and music. And of course, going by Salman's recent track record, looks like he will not only walk away with the dulhan but the applause as well.

January 8, 2000 - The Silver Lining
While the film industry was under a dark cloud in the-year that went by, the wonderful and unique cover pages of Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge in the annual issue of Film Information last week gave the industry hope of a silver lining in the new year. The shimmering silver covers (front as well as back) had a-page-amonth calendar of Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge pasted on the front, with stills of the film on every page. Never before was such a grand cover seen by the trade in any magazine. We at Information were inundated with calls congratulating us. But, but... but credit hum nahin lejayenge!-The credit and congratulations are entirely and rightfully due to the film's enterprising producer, Gordhan Tanwani, and to the Nandas - Himanshu and Rahul - for their inimitable conception, visualisation and their aesthetically creative design. It is they who deserve 2000 pats for the silver lining at the start of year 2000! Incidentally, the calendar on the cover of our issue last week is meant to be detached therefrom and can be used as a wall-calendar.
