Nick Marshall (Gibson) is a chauvinistic Advertising Executive. He thinks he�s gods gift to women. He loves his life, women pine for him, he�s rich, women pine for him etc. All is going well until the firm hires Darcy (Hunt), a bright and talented woman who unintentionally threatens Nick�s chance of promotion. It seems Nick�s life has taken a turn for the worse, until an unfortunate accident with a hairdryer, a selection of cosmetics and a bath tub (watch the film, it�s a long story, but very funny!), changes all that. It seems that Nick has a new gift; he can hear what women are thinking. Using this newfound ability, he manages to steal Darcy�s ideas and use them for his own personal gain. Oh, and pull some very nice women! Git.
This romantic comedy is a winner on all counts; the lads will enjoy it (and be green with envy at the same time), the ladies will love it, so it�s possible to watch it without having a �battle of the sexes� debate. Gibson proves he has the ability to find his feminine side without ruining his macho exterior, and still proves he�s a hit with the ladies at his seasoned age. He oozes Cary Grant class throughout the movie, perfect for the role. Hunt is wonderful as a strong, professional career woman, yet with an innocent side, showing she has some dents in her armour. Aside from the inevitable romance between the two, which shows great on-screen chemistry, every opportunity is explored for this �telepathic� gift, much to the delight of us blokes. This makes for some great comedy, and handy hints for us men to pick up. Did I just say that out loud?
The ending however, is a little rushed and disappointing, but this film is great entertainment, showing us the ruthlessness and the perks in the advertising industry. Oh how I want to work there.
