Horror
After his complete team of mercenary vampire slayers have been killed by the first vampire Valek (Griffith), Jack Crow (Woods) sets out on a rampage hunt to kill him. Armed with a feeble crossbow and various assault weapons, and an unsuspecting team of a truck driver (Baldwin), a priest (Schell), and a prostitute (Lee), the hunt begins.

Although the traditional stake through the heart technique will work, and the vampires in this film arent too fond of daylight, many of the other myths have been left out. For example... the Garlic, the Silver... that sort of thing. And many crosses dont work either. The team have an unusual, but original method of killing the vampires. The visual effects of them burning up leaves something to be desired in todays modern movie watchers eye, and the fact that they dont turn to dust when staked is a drawback too.

The search for Valek relies solely on the telepathic connection he has with the prostitute that he started to turn into a vampire. She sees his doings in her mind, and tells the team where he is and what he is doing, however the inevitable happens, she eventually turns into a vampire herself.

With a final battle that isnt too convincing, and a story line that isn't wholly impressive, with a more imaginative idea of where the first vampire originated, and how he came about, and with James Woods just being way too old for this type of film anymore, the film rates an average. However, it is worth seeing for the way the plot pulls together nicely at the end.
