For those of you who haven't seen the previous two Scream movies, the general theme of this horror/thriller is some guy in a dress who goes around killing lots of people. Genius. After seeing director Wes Craven completely ruin the good works of Scream by making a sequel, I must admit that I wasn't in a particular hurry to watch Scream 3. Regardless of this I decided that I would reserve judgement until after the opening credits at least. I was pleasantly surprised.

The basis of the script, without giving anything away or spoiling too much at all, is about a reconstruction movie being made of the original story from
Scream. The killer decides to pick off the cast from the reconstruction in the same order as was done in real life. This provides much humour as the 'new' cast are a bunch of hapless idiots (these may not be the most descriptive words, but I like them) and Gail Weathers for one is disgusted with the actress who portrays her. There are also some very good emotional scenes, mostly involving Dewey and Gail, which definitely aid the script and keeps the focus of the film away from the slasher premise that underlies the majority of the plot.

There is so much that I could say and want to say, but that would inevitably spoil the film for the lot of you. Overall opinion? Not by any means a great film but a definite improvement over the sequel, most certainly one to watch.
