This easily ranks as one of the sickest films I've ever seen though the BBFC somehow deigned to give it a PG rating. I know you're thinking, "yeah right Matt, you big ponce", but watch it and you'll see exactly what I mean. Other than that it's all fairly confusing stuff with the whole ant community work exceedingly interesting yet the actual idea very boringly filmed. The director has to take full responsibility for this as it's his fault it's so tediously slow most of the time.

You get no real feeling of imminent catastrophe as the ants start working together and begin to annihilate all other life. And only two scientists? Blimey, you think they'd tell someone about it as almost immediately in the film they realise something is quite wrong. But no, they don't. Even the ending is a bit of a cop-out, resorting to blatant 'reds-under-the-beds' style commentary. And the disgusting bits? Ewww, yuck, urgh. They are very sick.
