A young couple (Duchovny, and Star Trek: TNG's Michelle Forbes) take a cross-country trip, to get some research for a master�s thesis on serial killers. To cut the cost, they share the ride with another young couple (Pitt and Lewis) that start behaving uncomfortably similar to their subject matter. What starts out as a simple arrangement soon becomes a hell-ride into the world of cold-blooded murder.
This film is so underrated; it surprises me that it hasn�t achieved some form of cult status, because this film is so very cool. It�s almost like a Tarantino movie with its cold harsh representation of life and death. It is gritty and graphic and doesn�t try to romanticize it; even the love scenes are in your face. There are some other strange bits to the film, things you don�t quite get until you�ve seen the movie a few times.
That said, the cast is superb; a young, �pre-The X-Files� Duchovny shines. Well, so does �Mr. Ab-Roller� Brad Pitt, and Lewis who portrays a sexy nut case superbly, with Forbes balancing the cast out.
I can�t recommend this one enough, rent it or even better buy it, its only a fiver! |
