Teen / Comedy

Trying to explain the true glory of Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a tough thing to do. It's not a big thought-provoking masterpiece made on a shoestring, nor is it an ensemble piece featuring the world's best acting talent. It's just an 80's teen movie featuring a cast of mostly B-list talent and one good idea; what would you do if you had one day in which anything was possible? In which ignoring the rules and regulations that bind the rest of us poor mortals was all part of the fun. It's one of those movies you see as a kid and you wish so much that you could do the same thing; take a Ferrari, your girlfriend, your best mate, and a wad of cash and enjoy all the guilty pursuits you can in a single day.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is the perfect fantasy movie and one that requires constant screenings in order to fully appreciate its brilliance, its glorious simplicity. The characters are a joy to behold, the carefree Ferris, his uptight nemesis Principal Rooney, tightly wound sister (and friend) and completely ignorant parents. After seeing it you'll wish your school days were half as much fun and the ending is surprisingly touching. You know that's not the last stunt Ferris will pull and I can't wait for the surely forthcoming 20 years-from-then sequel. Please John?
