Cop Land USA, 1997 [James Mangold] Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta Drama / Crime |
The local Sheriff of a small town populated by many of New Yorks Policemen, Freddy Heflin (Stallone) has a simple life. He had dreams of becoming a cop himself, until a heroic deed (saving the life of the woman he loves, who then went on to marry another cop) left him deaf in one ear. His life soon becomes interesting when he uncovers evidence of a murder, faked suicide and police tampering, all caused by his so-called, law-enforcing, friends. Now he must choose between the woman he loves, the friends he idolizes and the law hes sworn to defend, with his and many others lives hanging in the balance.
Now believe me when I say, Stallone steals the show! What? I hear you cry, a movie with screen gods like De Niro, Keitel and Liotta in it, and Stallone shines through? Damn right! With the exception of Rocky, this has got to be his finest performance. The rest of the cast is superb, with an engaging plot leading you right into the heart of this film. So good it is, that youll be left with a lump in your throat, and cheering on the heroes! This movie will satisfy your appetite if youre after more than just your average brainless action flick, this is tense stuff! |
